I agree. It has even been reported that he's still slow on releasing the ball in practice. If it hasn't changed by now, it won't.

Alex Smith starting against the Raiders. Hill will light it up but "it's against 2nd stringers" and Smith struggled because he didn't have Gore and was up against the first D.

So Smith is starting against the Raiders???

There always is, I think there's a Tailgate thread around here somewhere. Might want to ask kidash more about this.

Nevermind I found it. I forgot all about the events section. Link

If you think Alex Smith is leaps and bounds better than Huard, you're as confused as Alex Smith vs. a zone blitz. Huard is not a pushover. He could be a legit backup for a lot of teams.

You were clear. Don't worry. What i'm saying is that i don't agree with your opinion and i find it based on faulty conclusions and a stretch.

Huard is now a "legit backup"? Huard is simply playing the role of Dilfer...

2 things I'll disagree with you two on....

1st. The Raiders have an above average Defense......and a good running game....so I believe this game will be tougher for both QBs than the Broncos one. So although I'm sure the Raiders do alot of sucking....playing defenes is one thing they are good at.

2nd. I'm sure Shaun is going to play against the first string defense as well......if they are indeed going to give Alex alot of playing time against the Raiders 1 string D, then Singletary Better leave the starting Oline out there for Shaun.....or just let Shaun hand the ball off a couple of times and call it a night...and bring in Huard to see how he does.....then late in the 4th qtr let Davis throw a pass dammit.

According to Matt Barrows via twitter, Alex Smith to start against raiders.

agreed. i hope he makes the most of this. i know shauns ahead and alex is going to need to be enfuego tomorrow but i want to see him do it. hes going to need show he can get the ball out quick and get he ball to the te. good luck smitty, youre goin to need it unfortunately lol.

i dont agree 100 percent but that post by billbird was one of the best ive read on here in a while. some VERY GOOD points. i just hope alex can get it together asap and his time here isnt done yet.

I know I was clear, but I don't think you understood because even after saying IMO, you asked me if I had a press pass, haha.

Anyway, I still believe Huard is a better QB than Smith. I don't think it's hard to fathom that either considering their past...

Do you honestly believe any of our four quarterbacks can lead this team well into the playoffs? If so, I'll have some of what you're having.

LOL. Yeah, i was kinda half joking about the press pass, but i got the point that you were trying to make.

I guess we're going to have to disagree on Huard.

Anyway, it looks as though Hill is going to be named the starter and i'll be supporting him all the way!

I actually agree with you. I think the Raiders are solid QB play away from the playoffs because of their Defense and running game.

I just don't think it is fair to start Alex Smith as he didn't perform well in practice this week. Singletary is setting him up to fail...oh man...sorry...I can no longer hold in my laughter from the Alexcuse I just conjured up.

He would have been a 1st round pick except that the word got out that he has Dyslexia and just about the same time he had two poor games at the end of the college season. They were I believe 12-0 and Davis was being talked about as a early 1st round pick or at least a 2nd rounder, but then he got really sick before his 2nd to last game and he sucked it up and tried to play anyway(because he carried the team almost entirely on his shoulders alone) but he played poorly and they lost their 1st game. Then in their bowl game Davis has his first poor game of the year (when healthy) and worries that he played poorly in the biggest pressure game of his life helped him drop out of the 1st round (along with the Dyslexia hysteria).
At least 6 months before the draft I was hoping the Niners would draft this stud as out QB of the future. I was deleriously happy when we hit the jackpot and got him in the 5th round ,because of the Dyslexia rumors etc).
He is very accurate and has the quickest release possible and throws rockets with a beautiful over the top motion and is a scrambler and runner and a great team leader. What more could you ask, except that he bring all of that to the NFL field? Hopefully for all of us fans,he does just that and in 2010 or 11 he is our starting QB.

Hopefully he can work out for us, a lot of the same things that you are saying about him are what the experts were saying about Smith coming out of college. Checking their college stats, they are almost identical type numbers. Davis threw more picks than Smith, but Smith was probably on a better team. But let's not count our chickens before they hatch, his learning disability might be a lot to overcome. He has to be able to learn the playbook. From the way you speak of him, it sounds like he is some relation or you are an alum of Ball State.
