He hasnt won a playoff game since Chip Kelly was the 49ers coach. At some point, simply making it to the playoffs is no longer enough, especially when you are in a division with the Browns and Bengals. A refresh might be good for everyone involved.

Maybe they'd like to field a team that can actually be competitive in a playoff game.

That's what many said about Jimmy G but even JG lovers had to drop that nonsense once they saw his performance outside KS's system.
I like Tomlin as a HC and if he was ever hired here I wouldn't be upset but who cares how many winning seasons your coach has if they always lose in the first round of the playoffs?
His biggest problem is lack of a good/great QB
BB showed he was average without TB and the Steelers always finish in no man's land to land a top 3 QB and they don't trade up as a franchise, not that high at least

I get the no playoff wins but to me, once Big Ben began to stay too long (he retired a few years after he should have), that team has kind of overachieved. There were times when I thought they shouldn't win more than 6 games, but somehow they pull it off. Given the QB talent level since about 2018, he should have a losing record in that timeframe. We are talking starting Kenny Pickett, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Mason Rudolph, and an Aaron Rodgers in year 21.

Who is supposed to win a playoff game with that talent? In order for the Steelers to break the cycle, they have to gamble a bit. But to say he hasn't won a playoff game, while true, lacks the context that at least offensively, he has had the least talented team in the NFC North for some time.

Even with Harbaugh, the Ravens only made a move because he and Lamar are no longer on the same page. Furthermore, if you fire Tomlin, who are you giving that job to?

He has plenty of input on personnel decisions so its atleast in part on Tomlin that they rode Big Ben far to long and didn't make any effort to prepare for his departure,he's also made some pretty bad decisions with coordinator hires especially on the offensive side.

I believe i saw a stat that said no coordinator of Tomlin had ever been hired as a HC. Could've just been offensive coordinators though I cant remember.

Bruce Arians was OC in Pittsburgh between 2007 and 2011.

He won one Super Bowl w/ Tomlin and then later on won one as HC with the Buccaneers w/ Tom Brady.
I sure wish the 49ers had a defense like the Texans. Combined with their offense they would be a strong contender. Even without Kittle.

True but he was already on the staff when they hired Tomlin, and was promoted to OC.

He wasnt hired from Tomlin staff tho. Left to Indianapolis first then went to Tampa.
Tomlin has stepped down as Steelers HC. Maybe he was asked to resign. 19 years. Long run.

Does Sharon Osborne get paid for the NFL using crazy train as an intro to this game? Perspiring minds want to know
Opening kick-off, and Bill is down ...
Bills tackling not very good.

49ers over Seahawks
