Pro Bowler in 2021.

That was at his prime - 4 years ago and an ACL injury ago. That's a long time in the nfl and a major injury ago. I'm not a huge on PFF grades but his best season was actually 2020 and his posting was 67 in 2021 on PFF, not impressive.

as a whole, he was never a top notch tackle IMO. Expecting him to be a stud at this point is wishful thinking but I sure hope I'm wrong. I hope he has his best year and is healthy. I'm not tryna be negative - I just don't think it's an exciting signing. He will probably only make the team cause we don't have a swing T outside of him.

At least he has a good game face
Solid signing in terms of making the 90-man better. Hopefully he's healthy and we see a decent version of his max potential.

Need to have an asterisk next to it as he was a replacement for an injury. Actually 3 of them. Trent Williams, Tristian Wirfs, and Tyrone Smith.
Is there even a small chance he's our starting RT?

Well, yea, if McKivitz gets injured then he might be.
So are we getting 2021 Humphreys or 2024 version.

Who is expecting him to be a stud? His job is to he a swing tackle. Nobody is counting on him to be the tackle of the future, just to be the third best tackle on the roster.

He'd have to really stand out in practice, he's decent depth. I don't expect a pro bowl caliber bounce back at all. Who knows maybe he turns it on this season in hopes of getting one last pay day. He barley moves the marker of improvement of our OL to me

Neither. Likely the 2025 one.

Yeah he was pretty awful last year.

The only thing I'd say is as you mention he likely wasn't fully healthy after the knee injury and also harder to come in to a team mid season and start cold into the limelight and here he gets to come in, learn the playbook, get time in training camp and ideally never has to actually play unless it's mop up duty in a win.

I would've preferred Jedrick Willis but DJ may be a better choice for swing OT.

I think the "business decision" quote might haunt Willis for awhile.
He'll be fine as the swing OT. Lots of experience. Next I'd like to see some real competition between Brendel & Nugent, Hennessy & whomever else . Happy to see Colby and Moss. Believe Colby may win the starting LG job. Moss will be very good competition. They can say adios to Burford. Here's a thought...Colby and Moss start at LG & RG and move Puni to C. Hmm...
This is a J Moore replacement. He can do what Moore did for $15 Million less.

You're right we should just have Burford and nothing else at OT. I don't need him to be a pro-bowler again. I need him to be a swing tackle that can play some starting snaps if needed.

bartch is more than likely the starting LG this yr. There's no reason to move Burford at all…he can play multiple positions on the OL.
