Different year. Different system. Let's wait and see how he works out. No big risk. If nothing else he has experience.

Veteran swing tackle. I dont know how good he is going to be, but he's likely much better than the 5th rounder you are mad we passed on.

Honestly if he's healthy, they could do a lot worse. He was plenty solid for Arizona for a few seasons. Had a rough start to his career when Arians gave him the moniker of "knee deep", as in a foot in the ass wasn't enough to get him going but he turned it around.
He's still only 31. Last season was mostly a wash since it seems like he came back early from a torn ACL.

They need bodies on the offensive line this season because there are going to be injuries along the way. Humphries has been terrible since his surgery so I think this is a speculative move on the off chance he's now fully recovered.

Starting RT and moving McKivitz to LG. At least that's what I would do.

this^
We can be sure the pro scouts had him checked off as being a swing target if the draft didn't fall right. I would also suppose they had already talked to him, perhaps even offer a spot if we waited until the draft news settled.
We are all just fans operating with very limited knowledge of what is actually going on.
I like the signing and hope he can get back to pre-injury form.

Trent goes down and this guy gets Brock Purdy hurt. While Jaylon Moore is solid in KC and Josh Simmons looks like a super star

Trent will be huffing oxygen on the side lines.

Did you notice what he did in KC last year.
