It's fun to think about unknown players being discovered. Look at popular sports movies. It also works.
It's not to the same extent, but Bill Walsh said his top rated player on his draft board in 1978 was Joe Montana. He thought Montana wasn't going to go until the 5th or 6th round but by the 3rd he was too nervous and couldn't wait any longer. Joe was mostly meh in college.
Dwight Clark was a total unknown, he was an 11th round pick (which today would not even be a priority UDFA). But without him the 49ers dynasty doesn't get born.
Neyor could be back once camp stabilizes or ends

Anyone know if Neyor was claimed, he was GTD $234K, which is the PS salary for a rookie, if he's claimed then we'd be off the hook for that $234K, if not the 49ers would get it back if he's on a teams practice squad.

The official NFL waivers page is kinda hard to read/understand, but at least I think he wasn't claimed yet:

Looks like Mason Pline and Tre Avery were either claimed or picked up by teams after passing the waivers. Neyor not so much yet.

Nobody wants a guy who has trouble catching with his hands.

I believe waiver players can deny a claim too. So ... it's possible the 49ers have told him they plan to bring him back. We'll have to wait and see.
Shame Pline didn't get it together enough to show on the field.

The 49ers released him because they barely had any left.

Damn. I really hoped nobody would take him, but I'm not surprised it's the Packers.
