To be honest I think Deion had more to do with his fall than anything else, but I have my doubts about how much of an impact that would have had in different circumstances.
Howell and Brock may have been spoke about at points of their careers but not as close to the draft as this. Nowhere near the same situation, closest are Levis and Willis.
a lot of stuff is being made up here. first, if you look at mocks he was not top 5. in schragers mock he's outside the top 20. this was a trend as we got closer to the draft. he was no longer in the top 5 or top 10. he was sliding in mocks. daniel jeremiah also had sanders going 21, and he wrote this: I'm not convinced the Steelers will take Sanders if he's available, but
if he doesn't go here, I'm not sure where he ends up. So he's outright telling you if the steelers aren't in on Sanders, he could be in free fall, which is what took place. malik willis was projected early and went day 2. rodgers was thought was pick 1 overall and was a long wait in the green room. it's all about clubs draft boards. if a club thinks sanders can help them they would take him.
now this statement may be true, maybe deion is good at self promotion (true).
maybe deion hyped himself up, his program up and his son up (true).
maybe the mel kipers and espn which sells ncaa football bought the hype (probably true).
so they made him out to be bigger than he was, and some rubes fell for it. nfl clubs did not.
