I'm kind of upset with this move honestly. I'll wait to see what the final roster looks like but we're kind of talking out two sides of our mouths here. It looks like we're prioritizing guys who can stay healthy but then release the one DE who played in every game(even with his issues in run D)

Kind of feels like we're making the switch to be better at stopping the run but I can't help but think to next season when we need to close out a game we'll be asking why don't we have the guys to get to the QB.

But...I need to heed my own advice and not overreact early in the offseason.

Floyd's 8.5 sacks were the quietest 8.5 sacks in history.

He did what he was asked but offered very little aside from the odd sack. He was terrible vs the run and PFF had him ranked as one of the leagues worse edges at 163 out of 211.

I'm quite positive we can get a rookie who can bring what he brought.

He also had 45 pressures.
Not sure I understand the Floyd and Collin releases. Sure we can draft rookies to start but with them on last year of contracts would not have hurt to keep fi depth purposes. Even if we bring in brother Bosa

Yea bro both ate head scratchers for sure. Especially Collins being that they restructured his deal
Release Leonard Floyd too now. Oh these guys are so funny.

I don't get it either,... especially Floyd's release
they are going to save only $1,5M but eat $8,6M in dead money,... makes no sense,.... he wasn't that bad last year,... he still got 8,5 sacks and 45 pressures,... that's quite a decent production,... yeah, he was crap against the run but he could be used in just clear passing snaps
Wanted him to stay, but oh well...

That leaves us Bosa, Sam O, Beal and Gross man

Which is cool, but those edge guys need DTs to help also

Or this could all be a REBUILD, which some of you are having a hard time accepting…

R. E. B. U. I. L. D

the sooner everyone accepts it, the easier it gets to come to terms with it. We botched with the core group of good / great players, winning ZERO rings. Time to roll over the roster.
Definitely don't get this. Figured he would be a 3rd down edge rusher.

Beal is a below replacement level edge. They have no one besides Bosa, Gross-Matos who himself may be released, and Sam O. Yikes. And its not like the edge class is spectacular.

There's also Drake Jacksons corpse but not sure what condition it's in right now

I think he's been embalmed.
I Not sure why everybody is so surprised. Lynch said we needed to get younger. I would assume Floyd will be a post June 1st cut thus saving much more for this years cap. Jed and company spent a ton of cash the last 3 years and it didnt pan out. There is enough mix of vets and young talent along with a good draft to be back very quickly. I would consider this a reshaping.
