I thought he did what was asked. And he was durable.

He was brought in to be a situational pass rusher except they never filled the other situation

Make sense if we end up signing Joey Bosa.
I guess Joey is a PFF upgrade, but Floyd has been more durable.

Thats it, open try outs at DE. I've got 265 covered. Need to bulk up to 6'5.

lmao. Good one!
I'm kind of upset with this move honestly. I'll wait to see what the final roster looks like but we're kind of talking out two sides of our mouths here. It looks like we're prioritizing guys who can stay healthy but then release the one DE who played in every game(even with his issues in run D)
Kind of feels like we're making the switch to be better at stopping the run but I can't help but think to next season when we need to close out a game we'll be asking why don't we have the guys to get to the QB.
But...I need to heed my own advice and not overreact early in the offseason.

Fire sale this year around our core guys. If they dont have a good draft ......

Even with a great draft it could take 2 to 3 years for guys to fully develop.

It depends.
Bosa, Deebo and Greenlaw were instant impact players as rookies in 2019.
Last year you can argue all the rookies were impact players early on - Green, Puni, Mustapha. Pearsall took some time but I think we can admit it was special circumstances with him.
Also if you look at the Rams they've gotten impact play from rookies each of the last two years - Puka, Byron Young, Kobie Turner in 2023, then Verse, Fiske, Kinchens and Beaux Limmer in 2024.
I think if we're trying to mimic any team it's the Rams. Go look at their 2023 draft it was crazy. 14 picks and no first rounder. They threw the book at the wall at it stuck a lot.
Just need Kyle to chill on the 3rd round RBs and try not to reach for guys we fall in love with.
And I think if you look at what positions our biggest needs are in, most of those frequently see out of the gate production from rookies.

Yep. It wasn't his fault he was asked to be a full time end.
But we want to get younger so this has to be a move to free up a spot for someone. Joey Bosa?
