He had some nice throws today. Want to see more next time

Good throws, and one of the sneaky plays I liked was him pressured right up the middle. He jukes the guy, rolls to his left, keeps eyes downfield for anywhere to put the ball, keeps rolling and throws out of bounds. So he avoided the rusher, and the negative play, and actually bought our guys some time to get open. We see BP does this also. I think Sam moves pretty darn well. And he can really spin it, if given the clean pocket.

That was a nice play but he also later took a huge chance on that throw where he tried to sneak the ball right by a defender into a super small window. It fell incomplete but those are the kind of throws that have led to his TOs.

Shanahan has said he encourages his QBs to take some shots in practice and PS games to get a better feel for what can and cannot work...or words to that effect.
I thought darnold played well with his few snaps. I liked what I saw. I think he throws a really pretty/catchable ball, always have,

I've always said I expected him to lose to lance but now I feel like darnold has the lead. These next games will be interesting - it'll be fun to folllw. Never been so interested in a QB2/3 battle. Lmao

Darnold is becoming obvious.
Darnold has impressed me. I knew he would be a solid backup but he seems to really fit into our system and feel comfortable.

By my count Darnold only had two bad plays: the bad decision which nearly got picked, and the one inexplicably inaccurate short pass. But otherwise he had several excellent throws. I'm not saying he's the savior, but if Purdy really is struggling and continues to do so, Darnold still has some excellent traits, if he can not turn the ball over so much.

And we can reduce his burden quite a bit through talent and planning. He's a very solid QB2 option IMO, putting aside the QB competition.

I mean he has the talent to be QB1, that's just a fact. He may not be "the best passer the 49ers ever had," and I dispute that, but he's a damn good passer most of the time.

^^IDK who that is, but I trust him.

The QB with the strongest arm in 49ers history.

Drunkenmiller?

.

This makes me feel guilty because I remember being one of the jerks calling him Etan Sivad. But what a shame that guy had mental disabilities. What an arm.

Still up for grabs. This game probably reverses where it stood last week, with Darnold slighly ahead. We have two more preseason games to decide, and it wouldn't surprise me if the 49ers keep it a secret all year to gain a competitive advantage since all three can suit up now.

Yea. I personally think he probably is the most talented thrower of the football we've had since I've been watching... I just think it's not that important. I'll take noodly Montana or Young lol.
I got to catch some replays of his snaps. Seems I misjudged him off stream. He played better than I thought he did. I just hope we don't have to turn to him and Brock stays healthy the whole season.

Same. I want to see what a full healthy season of Brock looks like. Hell I want a full healthy season for a qb in general. Lmao so damn tired of all these injuries

Trey bounces back next week and puts himself back a head of Darnold for QB2.

At this stage, Darnold is a better QB than Lance. Lance has potential to develop and maybe be better, but right now Darnold is better.

WTF are you talking about? At this stage with KNOW Sam blows. Almost 1 to 1 TD/INT ratio. Blow 60% comp. Career 78 QB rating. As a starter he's been one of the worst QBs in the league. That's ALL we know right now.

ya'll are f**king ridiculous. We know Lance stinks because we have 100 passing attempts BUT Sam is better because we have 55 starts 1,800 passing attempts of him stinking…give me a break.

LoL. Sam is better than Lance
