Don't they make these types of moves and then after a couple days when they clear waivers they revert back to the team's IR? I might be thinking of other types of transactions or in season transactions.

Yes, and day 2 ends after the 3rd round.

Never a real fan of the pick. We need pass rushers that have violent hands with power at the POA. You watch his tape at USC, you might as well tie his hands behind his back lol. Getting around OTs with speed in college might work for you at that level…whole different thing in the pros.
Well said. Anyone that's ever played football knew it was a massive red flag when this dude came back fat after his "weight gain" and said he hit 3 plates on the bench for the first time ever(high school football kids do this).
I think Drake should either go to a 5-man front(aka "3-4") or consider switching positions to a stack LB. He's got athleticism and max effort to hang his hat on, and he's flashed when he's chasing the ball. Maybe he has a Zach Baun type ascension as a stack LB.
Drake Jackson's bend is ridiculous 🤯

a smattering of encouraging snaps against the Vikings from 49ers second round rookie #95 Drake Jackson.

Far from a finished product, but can see Jackson's length, balance and some flashes of bend on these clips. pic.twitter.com/vAgOvEWIhT
Really like USC's Drake Jackson as a Day 2 developmental edge

long, explosive with great bend & ankle flexion. can get so damn low and reduce his hitting surface. showed some growth in 2021, but still a raw toolsy player missing that power element pic.twitter.com/f8JdlUBSEC

He was raw and athletic coming out of college. That injury he suffered didn't allow him to learn the finer points of edge rushing. Maybe he'll never become a decent edge rusher. I hope he doesn't end up with the Rams or Seahawks and come back to haunt us.

Wow. Waived already. As others said yes this front office misses on too many high picks. Also trades away high picks. I thought last years class was pretty good. This years class is too early but looks really good at some spots to me. I just hate that they always ignore the offensive line. But otherwise I have high hopes for this years class and last years class. Previous to that we had some absolute bust drafts.

Bill Walsh whiffed on a few first round picks as well. However, with others like Ronnie Lott and Jerry Rice, he hit absolute gold. So, Walsh isn't remembered for the first round draft busts that include James Owens (actually the first pick in the 2nd Round of 1979), Ken MacAfee and Earl Cooper (to a degree).
But I do agree, Shanahan has been horrible with his picks in the first round. The absolute worst decision of all time was trading up for Trey Lance.
