agree.

I understand why he didn't want to be here anymore.

Hope he does great.

Same. God bless
Had an amazing career year with Wilks as DC. Did he even get targeted in the super bowl once ? Last year was a dud but I can understand why. Good luck and thanks for everything.

Great player but did very little for us last year do to uncontrollable circumstances. Still will be missed as we don't really have a set starter opposite Lenoir who's a vet and can press right now.
he's one guy we needed to RE SIGN... he had an OFF YEAR last year, but that happens.. overall, he is a very very good player..

They had the game on versus the Eagles from 2 years ago and i felt bad for all the s**t we gave Wilks. The defense looked 100 times better than they did last year. Wilks definitely had issues but Sorenson/Staley were an utter disaster

Gonna miss seeing Mooney Ward back there. I hate that his last season with the 9ers was a sad one due to him losing his daughter. That broke my heart because I have a two year old daughter.

But he was one of the best Corners the 9ers had in the last 25 years. Truly gonna miss him as a 9er!!!!

Never hated him at all when he was a Niner or KC player. I'm sad that we couldn't get him another ring. Hope him and his family flourish!

Good article about him and his situation last season on The Athletic. Admits being upset he never received a contract extension offer after the '23 season and it bothered a lot of the team they gave out extensions to guys who held out (or held in) and didn't reward Ward, who was still showing up to everything. Says it got him in his feelings during the early portion of the season but was starting to lock in and then his daughter suddenly passed away which basically broke him and his mentality the rest of the season. Said he would rather not have came back the entire season after that but didn't want to miss out on game checks if he sat out longer than the 3 games he missed. Lots of other good insights in there as well.

Idk how I feel about that, he definitely earned an extension. I don't think it was personal but he took it that way. Not professional of him to half ass his last year. Not even sure why he'd come out and say that, sounds like one last FU to the 9ers.

I felt the fan base and the niners organization were very respectful to him after his tragedy. Really pitiful for him to come out to say that now.
I don't see anything super wrong with what he said. I respect guys for saying it like it is. He had an all-pro caliber year in 2023 and I believe wasnt targeted even once in the SB. I get his frustration and perceived unfairness.

I do think the early game funk was a bit unprofessional but again, he's just telling it like it is. Someone like Deebo or BA will never admit to crap like this. Then the whole thing with his daughter and the Niners were already not competitive at that point, writing was on the wall.

They didn't say anything because they got their way and it's not like they were professional during negotiations either "the way it is" and the way he went about it is unprofessional. He didn't have to say anything, 9er fans still held him in high regard but no he went out of his way to publicly denounce the 9ers and admitted he half assed it, only playing for the check and it showed last season.
I wonder what the point of saying that was because it sure wasn't designed to make himself look good. In fact, it accomplishes quite the opposite.
