California is great and I wish more states adopted stricter gun laws

Sorry, didn't intend to make a political statement there. I just think it's nuts someone would get arrested for doing something we should want people to do ... practice safe gun ownership.

I'm fairly sure the NFL won't punish him for it.

I agree with your 2A stance. This just isn't the forum to even try and discuss it in any thread.

The real question is why the police searched his car? He probably consented. People really need to learn their rights when it comes to police encounters. Don't answer questions and don't consent to any form of search no matter the nature of the encounter.

If they have stopped you and you refuse to answer any questions and any gun related items are visible from outside your car your car is ABSOLUTELY getting searched.

If you DO answer their questions you are more likely to not get searched. Some states make a refusal to answer any questions as an automatic arrest.

So, now you are under arrest and refusing to answer questions, so your car is getting impounded. Once your car is impounded your car can be LEGALLY inventory searched which includes closed containers in your car. If something illegal is found during an inventory search you might well get charged based on what is found.

Not all states do everything the same, but enough do the worst part of that stuff that you shouldn't assume silence is the best way to deal with police. The place where most people get in trouble is they way TOO MUCH. You don't need to say where you've been, what you've been doing, where you are going, etc. It's better to give basic information while being open and calm, and if they ask you questions that move away from the traffic stop THEN you shut up and say you'd like a lawyer. If nothing is visible, you don't have any alcohol or drugs in your car, body, clothes, or hopefully ever in your past that they can find ... then their options to search your car fall pretty much off a cliff. If you are clean and they say they smell alcohol or weed then you must go along with their testing and you must say you do not consent to a search and you should ask for specifics of why they think the smell something you don't smell, try to get details on video (their body cam or your phone) and then you have grounds to fight anything they find if they arrest you for DUI.

Who was the last great QB the Bears drafted? Sid Luckman?

They had Harbaugh and McMahon but I wouldn't call them great, they were just good.

Maybe they should take a couple decades off from drafting QBs?

-+Cali may indeed suck, but it will never suck as bad as Texas.
