Mitchell's been great with ball security. Really has a focus on it and it shows.

He's not afraid to pound it inside to get the tough yards or make the cut to daylight where he flashes some speed.

The more I watch him, the more impressed I am.

With the way he runs it along with Deebo getting some carries, guys like Wilson Jr. haven't been able to get in much. Niners have some very good RB options to utilize.
Guy has impressed me each & every game this season! Hope he has another big game this weekend also!
Last time we played Green Bay in postseason Raheem went off for 200 yards. We will need a big game from Mitchell to mask the shortfalls of Jimmy.

Agreed. Need to get him and the running game going vs. GB. They definitely can against GB…looking forward to this Saturday.

I wouldn't agree so much on Jimmy's *shortfalls* but he is *injured* with a thumb sprain and a shoulder sprain.

Still I'd like Kyle to make some special preparations for Trey to come in -- just in case Jimmy can't go. Not that he hasn't done it already, but I just get the feeling this might be the game Trey needs to come in for Jimmy if he's dinged in the Green Bay game.

Mitchell is a Gem. I wish we could pair Mitchell and Raheem next year, but that depends on Raheem and what he wants, and my fear is he's pricing himself out of the 49er budget with his wanting some big bucks. Nothing wrong with that, but that direction will end him outside of the 49ers for 2022.

What impresses me the more with Mitchell is his improvement during the season. The first few games, I thought he was really just a journeyman. He didn´t really see the holes. Now, the guy is just breaking tackles left and right. The number of good runs he had because he broke the first tackle at the line of scrimmage is amazing. There´s 4 yards run he made that should have been loss of yards. He´s really talented.
If Mitchell is running up the middle the ground game is formidable. This opens up the pitchout to the outside. What happens next if the inside and outside runs are working the opposing D crowds the LOS and the passing lanes are wide open.

Elijah rushed for over a 100 yards in his first start, he was top 3 in the NFL rushing during the first month. Maybe you're thinking Trey.

I concur. Best rookie rb by far. I don't know why we don't throw more rb screens to him

Yup!
Mitchell will be a big key in beating the Packers in the divisional round. He is going to be a future star in this league, and probably already is, once he makes his debut in the NFCCG (if we get that far).
Only thing I hope for is hopefully he gains 5-10 lbs of muscle in the next couple of years. Kyle finally has his cowbell back, but I want him to stay healthy as long as he can. That and hopefully sermon finally gets it together next season. Mitchell is special and not a typical one year wonder like previous Shanahan backs.
ESPN had their ranking of the top 10 rookies this season and not only did Mitchell not make it in their top 10 but was not even included in their just missed out list and there was like 10 of them they added.

He just missed too much time. Had he played all season he's easily a thousand yard back and would take a dump on Najee's numbers despite less usage

Agree, I think he can be a pretty good power back, if he packs in another 10+ pounds. Still, the injuries concern me, but I think it was more overuse than any sort of being injury prone. Anybody carrying 20+ carries a game is going to get injured. I hope Kyle does a better job during the 2022 season to split Elijah's carries to minimize overuse and injuries. That means either developing Sermon to be a good one two punch, or finding another Elijah 2.0 during the offseason or draft.
If he had played the entire season, he would've had 1500 yards or so, at the pace he was on.
