Pro day time. Hand held stopwatch. Some had 4.38. So he was between 4.32 - 4.38 on hand held stop watches. No electric timer. Split the difference and call him 4.35. He's pretty fast either way.

Speaking to this, was anyone else suprised to see him get chased down on that big run of his in the second half? When he first broke it I screamed "Touchdown!" but he was then tracked down pretty easily from behind. Other than that I think it's pretty clear that we've found another late round stud in this dude.

That knee might still be bothering him.

This was my first thought as well, luckily he was smiling and laughing when he got up after the play so likely not too serious. Might just be missing that extra gear with it still not being 100%.

I think he's probably not in top condition still.

Being in and out of injuries will do that.

I kind of think he maybe is just not as fast as his timed speed and as fast as many think on here. He's still not slow by any means but he really doesn't look like a 4.35 player. Or even a 4.45 player ever this year to me. Looks more like a 4.5 runner that is very physical and tough.
Any chance we bring mostert back?

in the 4-5 games he is able to play he completely takes it over. With that tyreek hill speed and getting a constant 10+ yards we didn't really need much else. It was insane his impact.

Only on a heavily incentive laden based contract. Mitchell is RB1 now.

This. I don't think he's ever shown that second gear. Doesn't mean he isn't gonna be great, just isn't going to be outrunning everyone on the field like Mostert does.

Depends on the dollars. But they should try. I like Mitchell as RB1. Mostert as RB2. We'll need both Wilson and Sermon with the way our backs go down. Hasty to the practice squad. If Mostert walks, I'm still comfortable with the lineup. Just have another RB ready to go.

I think we will try, but I doubt we give him anything more than a 1 year guaranteed money. At this stage of his career, he probably wants a bit of security and I'm sure he would jump on a contract that gives him 2-3 years of guaranteed money. I would bet there's a team or two out there that would give him that as well, something like a 3 years, 10-12 mil guaranteed.

Mostert could be deadly coming in as a change of pace back like he was in 2019. I'm guessing he will chase the money but I doubt there will be a lot of that for him. Maybe he comes back

It looks like Mitchell only has 4.3 speed when he's rested, injury free, and at a certain weight. He's still fast but Mostert runs the easiest 4.3 I've ever seen. Barely even looks like he's running hard.
I want to thank Mitchell for winning me my fantasy football championship
Those 40 times are so misleading. Players train to get quicker starts and even lose a few pounds to run a faster time. Put them in pads in playing weight and they aren't going to be as quick. 40 times don't show what a players actual top speed is. Tyreek Hill had a faster 40 than Mostert but Mostert has a faster top speed. It's all relative since the guys trying to tackle them are slower in pads as well.

Mitchell is fast enough to hit the holes and make some yards on a consistent basis. That's what counts. He also has good vision and is able to make cuts to avoid tacklers. I don't know wha tthe future is for Mostert but it's nice to have a guy like Mithcell in case Mostert leaves.
