This has been a SF thing since the dawn of time. Massive underrated issue.
Their entire medical staff / conditioning teams stinks. No way it's just bad luck or sheer coincidence that we end up in the top half of injury laden teams year and year out. Our staff does a piss poor job of having our guys fit during the off-season, and do an even worse job during the season. And then when they DO get injured, our medical staff does a piss poor job of identifying the severity of injury.
How does a rookie in his early 20s get injured so often and in so many different places ? I'm sure there are other RBs in the league that carry a heavier workload than him. Not all teams have the luxury of having a 1-2 punch at that position. How does your premier RB come in to start the season and have a season ending injury after ONE PLAY ?!
Bad luck ? Coincidence ? Or do we have internal flaws with the conditioning / medical crew ? I believe in the latter…
Agree, the medical crew probably has something to do with the injury situation.
I also happen to think ShanaLynch's draft and player acquisition approach is also partly to blame. Example: Sherman - achilles, Verett - ACL, Kentavius Street - ACL etc... they try to get players who are talented, but got injured and their draft capital dropped.
The only think I can think of is just throw more bodies at the situation. For example at the RB corps, just have more bodies there. I like how they approached it this year. Despite having Mostert, Hasty, and Jeff, they also drafted Sermon and Mitchell. I thought they overdrafted the position at first, but once the injuries started to happen I'm sure glad they loaded up on RB's this offseason.
