Nage Harris - 3.6

Javonte Williams - 5.0
Michael Carter - 3.9
Kene Nwangu - IR
Rhawandre Stevenson - 4.6
Chubba Hubbard - 3.5
Kenneth Gainwell - 4.3

Elija - 4.8

Elijah is doing better than most of his peers (rookies & vets) when he's on the field.

More rushing yards than:

James Conner
D'Andre Swift
Aaron Jones
Alvin Kamara
Melvin Gordon III
Leonard Fournette
Javonte Williams
Mark Ingram II HOU/NO

Despite playing in less games and having less carries.

The only RBs in the top 20 rushing yards with more explosive runs (20 yards or more) than Mitchell's 5:

Johnathan Taylor
Nick Chubb

The only RBs in the top 20 with a better yards per carry average than Mitchell's 4.8:

Johnathan Taylor
Nick Chubb
James Robinson

This guy has star potential and it doesn't get talked about enough.

Not durable enough. Won't last as a # 1 back

Grant?

JK, but the same was said about the greatest 49er RB of all time in his rookie season coming off of 2 ACLs. Elijah is coming off of a finger and I believe a shoulder?

Also name me a RB that has not gotten hurt, its part of the game. I would not label him injury prone just yet.

AGree, and considering Raheem's injury history, if the 49ers are true to their new attitude on staying away from often injured players, I think Elijah is a good replacement for Mostert.
Just traded for Him in fantasy this week. He gonna play?

Id agree. Its hard for me to let go. Id just make an offer that protects the team. If he takes it, great, if not, try to find the next Mostert/Breida/Mitchell.

This has to be the destination for UDFA backs.

with the punishment RB take its hard or almost impossible to get a full season out of them unless they are in a timeshare which KS doesnt really do.
Would be great if he was also able to play this week

Its an amazing talent Kyle has in sniffing out these UDFA running backs from a miltitude of players that look good, smell good, and have produced a lot in college, but are basically busts in the NFL. If I'm trading for Kyle Shanahan to coach my team, that talent alone merits a first round draft choice.

I think I would prefer that he sit for another week or so. This is a huge game for the team against a tough opponent. I would hate to see it come down to a lost fumble that Mitchell couldn't hold onto because of his finger. Wilson has a couple of games under his belt now after coming back from his injury and Sermon looked okay in the last game. I would let them carry the load again this week and see how Mitchell's finger looks in Seattle. Hawks aren't doing very well this year but every time we play them they seem to bring their best game.

a couple factors :

is this just a hairline fx, or is it more complicated. Having surgery suggests the latter.

Can Elijah hold onto the ball comfortably , tightly, without pain in the finger? If so, let him hold the ball and try punching it out. If it comes out, then no , he should sit. If he can hang onto ball and not have discomfort, then ok, maybe pending:

Which finger, and dominant hand or not? If pinkie, and checks out ok, let him play. Thumb, index finger, middle finger. No, not so good, should sit out. Big game, and simple mechanics of holding the ball have to be easily met. If not, then he is a liability, not an asset.

Last issue would be how well can finger be protected, and that means PERFECTLY. If not well enough to prevent pain from a blow, then he should sit.

Only way to use him could be , 4th and goal from the 3 yd line. Put him in, fake handoff, and give it to Deebo, or quick hitter to Kittle.

Looking at that….probably not suiting up.

no, this is a must win.. if we lose this weekend. there is no more week or two.. some of you act like we are in the drivers seat for a playoff spot.. no.. every game is a must win,. you need all your playmakers if they can play.. we got lucky with a terrible team last weekend.. but this weekend its a dang good team and we can not be so arrogant or foolish to just think, we can rest him. win and then he comes back next weekend.. no... if he can play. he plays. he is our best running back and we are backed into a corner. in a big game. i do not trust sermon at all. he is not worthy of his draft status in my opinion. you do not worry about deebo getting hurt at running back. if they can play. they play. we have no time to f**k around here
I would keep this kid on the bench for the next two to three games IF at all possible. Trey Sermon isn't as good, YET. But I'd rather give that busted finger a solid month to heal up rather than run him back out there.

But with a broken finger we don't need him fumbling the ball. I'd rather go with Sermon.

I imagine if the team feels he'd be a liability carrying the ball they won't play him. Hopefully he's out there. There is clearly a different feel to our running game with him out there. Wilson isn't running how he did last year.
