Haha.. I'm proud. They're learning.
Get a FQB, sign Tom Compton. Watch your QB get murdered every year. Fail.
Get a FQB, sign Alex Mack, Trent Williams, option Mike McGlinchey and Daniel Brunskill, draft Aaron Banks in the 2nd round, Jaylon Moore and bring in the biggest Mexican on the planet to learn from Trent Williams and teach Mike McGlinchey how to eat nothing but Mexican food.
Didn't they sign the tip C on the market, spend a top 10 pick on a RT and sign a RG after they signed their FQB?
No. Richburg was just a myth.
Get the best center in the league vs signing the top available player in FA. I wanted the 49ers to go after (trade for/sign) Linsley or even Ragnow. We can do that next year I guess with a better cap situation. This off-season has taught me there isn't any player the 49ers can't have if they really want him. Isn't that the entire talk track behind Lance? 3 first rounders? Many are saying they wouldn't pay that price.
Precedent set.
No more excuses for lackluster talent in any position group.
Yeah, fun fact. We started FA with the 8th most cap space. We currently have the 9th most. Chiefs had no cap space and bought a whole new OL and damn near got Trent Williams too.
Like we always said, it's about prioritizing and where you choose to allocate your resources.
Me too...would have preferred Lindsey since he already played in the exact same system and C's aren't very expensive and that position is solved for the next 4-5 years vs. Mack + trying to find his immediate replacement to train to play at that same level and use draft capital on him. We probably still don't have the long term answer given we didn't draft a C but this is still better than last year!
Next year, they'll probably have to address it unless they really believe Brunskill is the answer there.
