You can't just say that, you can (somewhat... these type of metrics are subjective in nature) prove it. SIS is well known for their excellent rookie analyses and they had Fields and Lance tied for On Target % and Catchable % (1% difference if you add them together).

Ah man I can't believe people is comparing this kid with Kap. There's a reason Kap was a second round pick and never got any hype until he started. Kap was never good in the pocket, wasn't smart enough to read defenses, and couldn't improve even when he trained with Kurt Warner. He was just one of those great ahtletes, mediocre passers like Manziel.
Lance is smart, he will just get better. He has good touch and pocket pressence. He has accuracy and mechanical issues, yes, just like Josh Allen did coming out of Wyoming.

Kap was such a hard worker but he spent the early part of his career working on the wrong stuff 🤦‍♂️ drove me nuts that he would train with Olympic sprinters every offseason instead of working with qb coaches.

He's pretty close to NFL ready now in this system. Don't know what people are looking at

I think the overwhelming logic behind it, which made a lot of sense to me at face value, was that our FO wouldn't trade such a massive haul for a qb that wasn't ready to start.

Well, we did.

The overwhelming logic was that we weren't trading 3 firsts for a guy who projects similarly to the current QB on the roster, then trading that QB on the roster and letting an unproven rookie lead a super bowl caliber roster. That was the narrative pushed upon us and it didn't pass the sniff test. You have the balls to trade up to three, you better have the balls to pick the kid with more upside than any other in this draft.

Maybe on some throws (bolded). But there are some throws where I see Lance just butcher the throw, as in it doesn't look good and I don't know why (clean pocket). We have some time till the season so I plan on making a film thread where we are all looking at the same video and give our insight on what we are seeing.

Could it be footwork and body position? I'm fairly worthless at analyzing throwing motion mechanics. My guess is that whatever caused the bad throws is something that he does intermittently or even frequently, but that he has demonstrated the ability to do that thing correctly so it just needs to become a habit. I hope that is the case anyway! Confidence is high!

Same. I can tell when QB mechanics look like crap, but if it's the finer points of mechanics, I don't know what to look for. Weight transfer, knee bend, load shifting, whatever all those terms are, no idea.

The BALLS of this front office jeesus to make this choice.
And they called the Packers one day before for Rodgers jeesus.
As they should by the way. If you could trade for the best NFL QB, you do it period.

You can watch this video about the Championships in 2019. Lance was keeping Rushing yards to 30 ATT and 166 Yards, 1 TDs and 1 Fumbling. He had nothing to throw the balls to guys when he had Passing about 6/10, 72 years. Do you prefer him for Rushing yards than Passer Yards?!? Are you sure about it? I watched this video which made me frustrated and disappointed because he didn't pass the yard!

Look at the play at the 2 min mark. The little slide step in the pocket to avoid the rush and pass for first down was a thing of beauty.

Ready or not, we'll need that JG cap space next year. But I think he'll be ready sooner rather than later, and considering JG's injury history he'd better be.
I'd prefer to see him learn on the fly than Rosen or Sudfeld.
... Chris Simms look like he'a about to cry because he so called friend lead him to believe that we're taking JONES!!

Someone get him a barf bag for when he gets to the SB
I was wrong about them giving up what it would take to move up. Unfortunately it wasn't high enough since the Jags and Jets were never moving out. This guy runs as much as he's thrown and won't play much if at all since he needs to be developed for what is a passing league. Hope I'm wrong about this guy because if he doesn't work out the whole leadership needs to be blown out, and that's from someone that is in Shanahan's and Lynch's corner.

I still have nightmares from kaps lack of touch. I just never want a qb like kap again. That's why I initially didn't want lance. With that said. I think lance has better touch than kap and hope he can improve given the time. Kid just needs to learn that everything doesn't need to be a bullet.

Kap had no touch because his delivery did not bring his elbow over the top of his shoulder line, that puts arc on the ball and enables touch throws... Lance brings it over the top, he will be fine
