Don't be surprised if he sit's not 1, but 2 years.

Disagree. Those that would've been upset with giving away so much for Mac Jones @ #3 would've been justified.

But as I've repeated for weeks... Its just was never going to happen so it's a moot point.

If Shanahan had even kind of wanted Mac Jones... He would've sat @ 12.

Hell...even Sabag called us out for not asking any questions about Mac... But people ignored his pettiness as a clue.

Mac @ #3 with Lance and Fields on the board would've been a colossal fail. And he's lucky to have went at #15...which justifies that statement.

Trevor will start day 1. We got a "raw" deal, pun intended. Lance may not be even ready to be the backup. Patrick Mahomes could have started if they wanted him to. He had three years in college and over 1000 more pass attempts than Lance. Unfortunately, we traded a lot and drafted someone who be starting anytime soon. Hopefully he will be shelved for at least a year. We have to ride Garoppolo and Sudfeld or Rosen this year if we want to have a chance at the playoffs. If Garoppolo does get hurt again it'll be just like last year. We really haven't helped ourselves in the immediate future. If Lance does start next year it will be a year of growing pains at least, and most likely we won't make the playoffs.

Sudfeld has thrown 37 passes in the NFL. I doubt he is even on the roster come September.

Lance coming in if(when?) Jimmy goes down will be leaps and bounds better than Beathard or Mullens.

I feel like after Lance got picked last night, 98% of 49ers fans were pumped and 98% of NFL DCs had trouble sleeping.

Lol this
Those DCs were praying we were stupid enough to take Mac Jones

no way

a healthy Jimmy G is a pretty good QB he does have huge limitations but if this team is healthy hes good enough to take us to the SB. I dont feel that way about Lance i think he needs 1 yesr to learn the offense and more importantly just get practice reps

I'm so f'ing happy we didn't take Mac Jones. Jesus that was excruciating.

I would have preferred getting Justin Fields at 11. Moving up one spot would have been a lot cheaper.

All that said, this guy clearly has potential and there must be something there that Kyle and the scouts saw that's differentiating.

Keeping Jimmy and developing a young dude with max potential is a great plan IMO. I'm into it, can't wait to see him play.

Yeah, he's got a lot to work on. Kurt Warner's game tape showed a bunch of bad decisions. He's going to need one year just to get to the level of competition. Then another year to unlearn some of his bad habits.

I wouldn't be surprised if we ride Jimmy out, if healthy, and then give the keys to Lance in 2023.

If you are going to compare him to someone at least make it accurate. He is nothing like Kap. An accurate compro would be Josh Allen. He is startlingly similar to Allen except height. Which makes a great deal of sense after Kyle gushed about Allen when he laid a beating on us this year. This Kap s**t has to die, it is a dumb and lazy comparison just to rile people up, just because the kid can run doesn't mean he is Kap. Lance isnt a long strider, he doesnt have a base ball throwing motion. he has hit passes with touch plenty of times, He doesn't come from a gimmick spread offense. Just stop with the Kap garbage...it is lazy and dumb clickbait.

Thank you PhillyNiner. The comparison and the way it is used are both nauseating.
No reason to sit him 2 years. One year max. Sometimes you gotta learn as you go

mmmmm I would pump the breaks there. I dont see that happening out of camp. He is green, going to need a little seasoning. The earliest I could see him ready to be a legit starter is like week 10 and that is an accelerated time line. It would be great to have him not take the reigns until next offseason.
