Personally Shanahan and Lynch have gone up in my estimation for identifying the problem and taking great steps to deal with it.
Top head coaches are hard to come by. Surely the two decades prior to the hiring of Shanahan shows that? Success in the NFL comes from finding a top coach, surrounding him with high calibre people and then being patient. If this pick turns out to have been a mistake, it was a failure of action rather than inaction. Having seen so many posters calling for Shanahan to be fired if they drafted Jones, it becomes clear now that sacking people has become the immediate response to setbacks. This is not in my opinion a recipe for anything other than mediocrity .
Fields and Jones also face the possibility of failure.
Thanks English. Could not have said it better.

Ill check it out after work today
From the sound of it, Lance was the 3rd guy all along...Lynch said Kyle told him in January that he loved Lance.

Regardless, it's nice to see Kyle Shanahan step outside the box a bit to take a QB like Lance. They spent too much to get someone who might be a coin flip but hey, sometimes you have to take risks. Shanahan and Lynch will be defined by this move. It's hard for me to come up with a justification for Lance over Fields, but I'm guessing that Lance was the guy some other teams were looking at if the 49ers took Jones (Falcons, Broncos, Panthers, etc.), so maybe there's something teams are seeing that I'm not.
Three firsts is worth it for a top-5 QB (Stafford went for two firsts and he's maybe top 10?). I'm not saying Lance will ever become that, but the bet ShannaLynch just made tells us they expect him to eventually become one of those guys. And if the odds are anywhere close to 50/50 that he becomes a great QB, you have to make that bet. If my odds of winning the lotto were 50/50, I'd blow my paycheck on tickets every week lol.

Seems like the trade to 3 for Lance was necessary. Atlanta, Carolina, and Denver all seemed to be in on him.

YOU PASSED ON JUSTIN FIELDS!!!!
super bowl drought will continue
Really sorry you missed your appointment for the lobotomy. We all know what you do to a wet dream...
look, I hope I'm dead wrong,I'd love for you, the rest of the fans who've been pounding on the table for this kid to be right and he becomes the next Steve Young while winning multiple Super Bowls, hell I'd take A super bowl. But a one star recruit who played 17 games vs Country Bumpkin State who hasn't played in nearly 2 years and the idea is he'll start in a season or 2?! Sorry, if you're drafting in the top 3, especially if you aren't picking in the first until 2024, they should be picking an immediate impact player, not someone who might be good later down the road.
But he's suppose to be the franchise QB, so I'll support him and root for him to win until he gives me a reason not to. The wait better be worth it
If you are going to compare him to someone at least make it accurate. He is nothing like Kap. An accurate compro would be Josh Allen. He is startlingly similar to Allen except height. Which makes a great deal of sense after Kyle gushed about Allen when he laid a beating on us this year. This Kap s**t has to die, it is a dumb and lazy comparison just to rile people up, just because the kid can run doesn't mean he is Kap. Lance isnt a long strider, he doesnt have a base ball throwing motion. he has hit passes with touch plenty of times, He doesn't come from a gimmick spread offense. Just stop with the Kap garbage...it is lazy and dumb clickbait.

Just think, if this guy can in time get to the same sphere as Mahomes we would have a superstar QB, superstar TE, superstar MLB, and superstar DE...that's the stuff dynasties are built on
It's so nice to finally see this organization run competently

You are correct, Allbright said we would have to move to 3 to get Lance.
I'm happy that the 49ers went big on potential. Lance has athleticism, rocket arm, good delivery, toughness, and good character (from what I've heard). My first impression of him was watching his sole 2020 game, where he looked absolutely awful, but have warmed a lot.
Biggest concern is his pinpoint accuracy to make big-time throws in big-time games. Looks like he was playing high-schoolers in his tape, slinging it all over to guys who are open, and running through terrible tackling. Compare that to Mac Jones, who, while he had great wr's who got open, could deliver excellent balls against NFL corners in tight coverage. Jimmy G is also great at making these intermediate 3rd and 8 throws, even under big pressure. Lance would have a fraction of his highlights scrambles if he was playing in the SEC.
If given the choice of Lance at 3 or Mac Jones at 12, keeping our picks, would rather have Mac Jones. But who knows if he would have gone sooner? Love that the team is working hard and taking action. Have had a great offseason. Will be upset if we pick early next couple years though...

Dont tell me Shanahan is cheating on Kirk. I thought their love was inseparable.
