kyle has loved this kid since January....our FO played this about as good as it gets.

can't wait to see what this kid can do

Yup. That makes two of us. This is a massive BALLS move and it could bomb, but I appreciate the move. Mac was "safe and boring". The sky's the limit here. Oh Kyle is arrogant, but this shows he's constantly evolving as well within that arrogance lol

Where's NC?? dude was so sure it was Jones based on his boy MM and the rest of the dumb media Hey can't fault him for following the media I guess, we knew (kinda) that Jones wasn't worth 3 1sts.

Is arrogant in the fact that he thinks he can take massive potential and make it into a star...can't hate on that.

I'll echo what I said for his Fields evaluation because it fits Lance as well. It makes no f**king sense with his usual evaluations.

This is the same dude who had Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson graded higher than most. He's got Rodgers as his top QB all time with John Elway 2nd. Brady 3rd and Montana 7th.

This dude is all about physical tools.

Now he puts Mac Jones and Kellen Mond over Lance and Fields?

That's what we call hypocritical.

Yup that's why when he was loving up on Mac it made no sense to me...Simms has always been a elite trait guy. He's always been about legs/ass and like you said physical tools. I think he's just doing the hot take stuff because that's where the real money is.

Im curious how much his mechanics improved in the past year.

He is such a wierd prospect because he isnt raw mentally or physically and he comes from a pro style offense where he made pre and post snap adjustments. The only thing missing is reps and he needed to improve his mechanics and accuracy/ball placement

He's got a whole 25 min long tape of his first pro day on youtube.

it's the same stuff as mahomes/Allen...raw mechanics (actually think Lance's are better based on when they all came out). His lower half looks SO much better over the course of the past 5+ months. This kid is gonna ball for SF just need to be a little patience
It'll be impossible to know exactly what the 49ers' process was and if all this post-draft preening about Lance being 'the guy' from the beginning is CYA or the actual truth.

Regardless, it's nice to see Kyle Shanahan step outside the box a bit to take a QB like Lance. They spent too much to get someone who might be a coin flip but hey, sometimes you have to take risks. Shanahan and Lynch will be defined by this move. It's hard for me to come up with a justification for Lance over Fields, but I'm guessing that Lance was the guy some other teams were looking at if the 49ers took Jones (Falcons, Broncos, Panthers, etc.), so maybe there's something teams are seeing that I'm not.

YOU PASSED ON JUSTIN FIELDS!!!!

super bowl drought will continue

Really sorry you missed your appointment for the lobotomy. We all know what you do to a wet dream...

look, I hope I'm dead wrong,I'd love for you, the rest of the fans who've been pounding on the table for this kid to be right and he becomes the next Steve Young while winning multiple Super Bowls, hell I'd take A super bowl. But a one star recruit who played 17 games vs Country Bumpkin State who hasn't played in nearly 2 years and the idea is he'll start in a season or 2?! Sorry, if you're drafting in the top 3, especially if you aren't picking in the first until 2024, they should be picking an immediate impact player, not someone who might be good later down the road.

But he's suppose to be the franchise QB, so I'll support him and root for him to win until he gives me a reason not to. The wait better be worth it

Yup! He said he was taking names! He'll come around and we will be waiting for him lol. 100% agreed on the arrogance. I want them to trade up to snag Williams. Lol
I really wanted Fields, but Lance was definitely my 2nd choice. The relief of not picking Mac Jones at 3 was real last night.

Yeah. I didn't get it either. Lance over Fields at 12 makes a little sense, but Lance over Fields after giving up three 1st round picks?

LOL yup I remember that comment...he's got the "receipts" for all us

Now let's go get some OL to make NC happy.

Orginally wanted Lance in a small trade up, then we moved to 3 so it was Fields (my QB 2)….I was pumped for either.

Just listening to the way guys spoke of Lance (DJ, Cosell and others) really made me more excited at the idea of getting him. He's just a pup which I like too.

He's just mad bc his bff didn't agree with his evaluation. I didn't favor any QB but i was more toward Lance/Fields. I think Jones will be a good QB, but needs everything around him to be perfect. I don't see him becoming Brees or Brady.
I'll take Shanahan's word on what he needs to take his system to another level over what Simms thinks any day.

Or he has to be critical of the pick so he can continued to be the somescreen instigator role for Kyle. I don't put past those 2 BFF working things out, one to be the media double agent at draft time.

Yep. Mahommes and Allen both had control issues the first year

You don't trade up from #12 to #3 and not knowing or undecided on who you want. I believe Kyle when he said he had Lance in mind since January or February
