I'd love to see Lance succeed, cause I'm not a heartless a-hole. I don't understand you people who don't like the kid, like did he kick your dog or sleep with your mom?

I found it strange that Harbaugh wasn't ramming him up the middle for multiple plays .

He's obviously not a very good QB whisperer,

We didn't do that in the preseason either. There's nothing at stake in this game so you can scheme things for him that won't be easily available in a regular season game, and let him test the water so to speak.

He still looked like Trey Lance tonight, with some improvement in not missing short, wide open, layup throws on his first read.

We'll see if he ever gets to start for a team but I noticed a difference being paired with Harbaugh than Kyle. He needed someone that believed in him.

He tried to replace good 'Ol Jimmy G

It's not a coincidence why the majority of the same personality posters dislike him

lol
I don't think he is gonna succeed in this league but I'm glad that he is getting a chance because he hasn't gotten a real chance in the NFL.
Even if Harbaugh can turn him around it doesn't do his team any good unless the Chargers can get something back in return for him. But he only has a 1 year deal. They have Herbert, So he is never going to play unless Herbert gets hurt. So really all Harbaugh is doing is developing him for the next team to reap the benefits. Hey atleast we gave Mac Jones a 2 year contract :) That way if he develops nicely here we can trade him the next offseason.
I didn't watch the game tonight but sounds like he was his ole self? Trey seems like a fantastic dude, and he has made a ton of money, but he came into the league wayyyy too raw/inexperienxed. It's hurt him big time.

his early injuries ruined his chances for gaining experience. Then obviously Brock ballin. I hope he can go to a smaller league and play to get some experience and he's young enough he may be able to pull off a Geno smith. I doubt it but it's not impossible.

i never thought he would work out but im not happy that he's failed. I don't blame Lance at all - it all falls on Kyle and John, IMO. Insanely bad choice on their part for various reasons.
Dropped the first snap on offense, ran himself into a 6-yard loss, threw a screen pass to a receiver who was well covered behind the line of scrimmage for another loss instead of just throwing it away at his feet. and he did all of this against guys competing for spots on a team that was probably running very basic coverages.

All that being said, he did throw a couple of nice deep passes, which is something he seems to have a knack for, and actually managed to hit a few intermediate passes to guys who were pretty wide-open, which is certainly a step-up from what we saw here. Still, the memory of his last pre-season game for us against the Raiders remains strong. That may have been one of the worst performances by a SF QB against second tier talent that I have ever seen in my life. He's still a young guy though and his story isn't over, hopefully he'll figure it all out some day.

I was correct about the 2 Tuddies
My friend said that Trey Lance earned the back-up quarterback job with that game. I told him to settle down that they still have to play their three preseason games.

He definitely looked better on those layup throws. I still feel that his "off schedule" plays are meh! That was supposed to be the reason for the selection and he still looks stiff and lost when the play breaks down. That said, last night was a positive step in the right direction for him. Happy for the kid.

In my opinion, he and Mac are finally in the right systems for their skillsets. Just happens to be 4 years too late for both of them.

I've posted many times before... Harbs knew how to protect Kap. He rarely let him keep a read option play early in games. Even if the defense sold out in the box, Kap would still hand it to Gore.

Also Harbs had Kap run toward the sidelines... so he could go out of bounds, or only have to get hit from one side that he can brace himself. And the defenders hitting Kap would be smaller players (DBs, LBers)... instead of defensive linemen falling on top of Trey at the LOS or in the middle of the field.

If we did run Kap up the middle, it was only a QB draw with everyone spread out... allowing Kap to slide or dive in the middle of the field. (Where as with Kyle and running Trey up the middle like a battering ram)

So no it's not because it was preseason. Harbs rarely let Kap keep the ball, even if the look the defense gave called for it. So if this was the regular season, and Trey was the QB... Harbs would not run/expose him, like how Kyle ran/exposed him.
