I haven't paid attention the last week or two but I don't recall Kyle ever saying it was an open competition. I thought he was pretty clear that they liked a healthy Jimmy. Unless Trey completely balls out of his mind, it's Jimmy's job to lose or get injured.

Correct. He's also saying Jimmy is the leader, good body language, etc. to pump up trade value, if/when Trey overtakes him.
All we know is Garoppolo appears to be getting the starting reps tomorrow. We'll see how it changes, practice by practice.

He said everyone will know when there is an open QB competition because everyone will be able to see it. If lance balls out in preseason game 1, Kyle will have no choice but to announce game on.
LOL... "Kyle has no choice". Of course he does, he will decide when and if there is a competition. And doing great in one preseason game isn't likely to persuade him.
Thats what happens when you have no plan.
You trade a second for a QB, Pay said QB $125+ million, and then spend 3 first rounders on a rookie QB.
The problem is that there is only one ball...

What makes you think there isn't a plan? Just because he doesn't plan on the New QB start on on day one doesn't mean he doesn't have a plan.

All depends on the signing bonus....also it's not just about Bosa I just threw that out there, it's about having money in general.
You can't keep resetting the market over and over. Why no one wants and extra $41.4M next yr to help out young QB is beyond me.
You apparently, you got this issue with asking Jimmy to take a pay cut

Why on earth would he accept a restructure ? His heir apparent is in the room. There is zero reason for him to agree at this point. I would keep every penny the team agreed to. You truly expect a player to say, sure cut my pay so you can have more money for, FA after I am gone? 😂

Yep. His hand is forced now. Like it or not. Trey is being labeled as a possible rookie of the year candidate by some

I've said it would be nice, but not likely to happen and that upsets you.

Why? Because there isn't a single team in the NFL that would pay him anything close to what he's getting paid currently. No team is gonna pay him $12-$15M at this pt in the off season. Everyone has their QB room and no one has that money either. It's almost august.
you say take a pay cut or get cut…good luck getting anything close to what they would offer…he also gets a yr removed from his deal so he can become a FA in 2022 instead of being traded to the highest binder, he doesn't have a no-trade clause in 2022. He gets to compete to be a starter on a SB roster…he's not getting that anywhere else at this pt. He should be worried about his next contract imo
Hell throw in some incentives for playing time, pro-bowl, stats etc. in no world should he be the 5th highest player in football. He doesn't have leverage at all.

Uh huh. And put a possible play off team in the capable hands of a rookie from a small school who hadn't plsyemuch and his backup is Rosen? Oh, I am sure that happens. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I believe he said starter entering camp. There will still be a competition. There is always a competition.

NN IMO has more legit content in regards to film and football knowledge...I'm a fan of Posey, I've DM him a couple times asking about football stuff. He's pretty cool.
WZ for the most part is just opinion columns. Obviously love their forumboth have their + and -
Agreed 100%

I'm with Mojave on this one, no one in the world takes a pay cut just for shizz and gigs, it's all about leverage, and he has enough.
Even if we only want him to start 3 games, or even if we want him as a backup, we agreed to the contract. What's really changed? A few injuries and drafting his replacement, hardly on him.

both have their + and -
