First off I didn't argue with anyone, just responded to a video from Mooch who said what I've been since the draft. I remember you saying after he was drafted that it was a win/win for all Niner fans because getting Trey meant "Jimmy fans" get to see him play one more season. You're right about one thing. I didn't want Trey, of all the QBs he's the one I wanted the least, but he's on the team now so I'll support him until he's not and I want you to be right about him. "Jimmy can win as long as the team around him is good" yeah….that can apply to just about every QB unless they're some Drew Brees & Aaron Rodgers and look at how many rings they ended up winning. And nobody brings in 2019 when starters would go down every week and Jimmy was still winning games, it got to the point where fans started calling us the 4-6ers because players were reported to being out for 4-6 weeks. All I'm saying is when healthy Jimmy has done some great things with this team, it's just a shame that some fans refuse to give him the credit he deserves

I never said it was a win/win? I was in favor of keeping Jimmy because he's a decent QB. He is NOT worth paying almost $27M however. I said I want it to be a legit competition. I said I think Lance needs to play at some point this yr, having him not take legit starting reps is wasting of a important yr of development on a rookie contract. I have faith in Kyle that he can get wins with him as much as I think he can with Jimmy. Neither have to be great because the team and coaching staff are good. This roster is perfect for a rookie. We do not need either to go out there and throw the ball 40x a game to get Ws.

People also throw out s**t like oh look we were still winning even though we lost so and so...clearly it's just Jimmy. Disregarding context to everything. EVERY football team deals with injuries, same as we did in 2019. SF had what amounted to one of the easier schedules the first half of the season (because we sucked in 2018). We lost someone and someone else stepped up all the same. It was great team football top to bottom, great coaching top to bottom. Of course Jimmy played a part and I've said that. He did however have a large margin of error. That roster was damn good.

I look at 2019 as the team was great, not just the QB. He was a part of it, but in no means was the main reason we got to where we did. I have respect for him and think he's a professional. The FO and coaching staff wanted better and the fans base should expect better overall too. I don't want a QB that needs things around him to be great for him to be a "good" QB. I want a QB that can make everyone around him better. I want a QB that can make s**t happen, when things breakdown. We will see if Lance can do that....clearly Kyle and Co. thinks he can and if you trust them.... then get on board

This I can be on board with

go Niners

Uh oh

practice isn't until tomorrow. That's when it matters...he will sign before that. This is how CAA agency works with SF.

It's also 8 AM in SF lol.

NY, how would you feel about Lance on the road to start the season.. piece of cake?

some pretty crazy environments that he hasn't seen before

Against the Lions lol? I'm okay with either QB handing the ball off 30+ times and running some PA/Boots. sure.
you think the lions dome (ford field) and philly fans is just a walk in the park on opening day/week ?

I can hardly feel excited about a training camp battle between a below average QB and a player not currently under contract with the team.

So when Trey signs today will your excitement level have a slight uptick?

I think the Lions suck...and that's what matters. I think the Lions fan base or "how loud" they get isn't some storied thing either.... I don't think there's much more of an easier start to a rookie QB then playing Goff and the Lions on a great roster with a great coaching staff. You think Kyle would throw him out to dry and put him in bad positions all game? I do not.

Dude will hand the ball off a billion times same as Jimmy G. Kyle will scheme up easy pass plays, same as he would do with Jimmy G.

FWIW Carson wentz started day 1 and week two in Chicago. I would said that's a pretty passionate fan base, he won the game 29-14.

Kid needs to play, didn't say it HAD to be week 1...him sitting on the bench for a full year isn't gonna make him more prepare for playing on the road. Playing football will.

People do realize that if a player holds out they lose $50K per day under the new CBA....teams can not pay back that money once they show up (which was a thing prior).

You'd think SF fans at this pt would get that rookie don't hold out either...literally every yr when we have a top 10 prospect they wait until the last second to sign.

have you been to Chicago for a game ? i have. Not close to what a dome sounds like. If you think there isn't home field advantages.. then i will just stop here.

I don't think they can fine Trey since he's not actually under contract. That 50k fine thing applies to players that are already under contract, but are holding out for a new contract or whatever.

He'll probably sign today so it doesn't matter.

If you think the Lions are known for "home field advantage" then ya we can stop right here.

I've been to plenty of stadiums both in domes and outside...loud is loud and it doesn't have to be because it's a dome. KC/Seattle are some of the loudest stadiums in the league and are outside. Bills are loud, Pitt is loud... Hell Levi was rocking last time I went there. IF a team is good then the noise will be louder regardless...the lions are one of the worst football teams in the league. They got this guys as their HC....

Goff folds like a lawn chair under any pressure and he's throwing to a bunch of no names...with no McVay to save his ass. I'm not worried about Jimmy OR lance (if he starts) playing in DET week 1.

Lance is gonna have to play football and him sitting isn't gonna prepare him for deal with playing on the road.

I'll even root for him to be the Day 1 starter.
