Let's be honest, he flopped lol. It happens. The o-line didn't help.Doesn't mean he is a terrible qb & can't come back from it next game & somehow go balls out(being positive) lol. But he was chokey. Maybe he needs to shave his head, put some tats on it..come out ballin lol

Sadly he reminds me of a worse version of kap slower with weaker arm but all the slow decision making.

He needs to bounce back and play a lot better. If he comes out and kills it next game and plays a lot more decisively then a lot of this stuff will go away. If he continues to look lost in the sauce then that greatly increases the possibility that he winds up as the #3 QB on the depth chart.

It's super weird, no ounce of objectivity to be found with them

It means that he's definitely not good enough to overcome piss poor pass protection. He's not good enough to instantly react when things aren't right, and he's not overcoming inept play from teammates, as you want your QB to be able to do.

No need for tats, but he needs to shave that head. And he needs to make at least this huge change: if the defense shows a coverage he didn't expect based on his pre-snap read, instead of hesitating, he needs to throw the ball where the defender can't get it. Jimmy G has made a career out of that, and Trey needs to figure this out. Because Lance is very inexperienced, so he's going to make bad pre-snap reads. But even when he starts getting that part right, NFL defenses are very clever and good at disguising. Sometimes your pre-snap read is wrong and you just don't have time to sit there and casually move to the next progression. Sometimes you need to make your wrong pre-snap read right with your arm.
Funny to see what first impressions I had way back in 2020 on each of the quarterbacks from the class of 2021.

6. Trey Lance, NDSU - Again, some good traits, but very raw and needs time. Seems like a two-year project. High risk/reward. I think Shanahan will like a lot about him (pro style scheme, PA from under center, etc.) and obviously great mobility, but he seems far from a plug-n-play guy.

Hah.. How bout that.. Kyle liked him, got him, and probably thought the same that if he played last year he'd get enough XP over a two year period to become something good going forward. Welp..

Now, maybe with another year actually playing a lot of ball, that might be the case. Not feeling super confident after that ugly performance Sunday but.. We'll see how he bounces back Saturday.

What was Grant Cohn's take on this….

IMHO that's an accurate take. Lance shot himself in the foot by being made of glass. Is it just bad luck, maybe. But you can't develop if you're not on the field. He didn't just lose the games, he lost so much practice, as well as time in the off-season to work on his flaws.

Cohn isn't even realizing that maybe the reason Kyle had a three to one pass to run ratio with Lance in is because Lance needs lots of reps.

Yeah, I mean, it wasn't like he was on the bench for two years still getting practice reps, he only had one year of practice with a few game appearances sprinkled in.

Perhaps he looks slow and confused mainly due to how woefully inexperienced he is still. It would make sense.

I don't know what his trajectory will be from here, but in the present.. It ain't looking good.

Something like that. Yeah. Kap was superior to this no doubt about it.

His throwing looks better. A LOT better. I doubt he's making these throws in previous seasons.

Regardless, all the haters here, you are so ridiculous. This wasn't some situation where Lance had time and simply played terribly. What he did here was FAIL TO OVERCOME his s**tty pass blocking at least HALF of the time here. I don't care who you are, a 50% pressure rate is ABSOLUTELY NOT all on the QB.

I want to see if he has improved in a situation where he's NOT having to play perfectly in order for the team to avoid a sack. I want to see at least that much before I declare that he's trash and hasn't gotten better like you psychics who don't actually need to see that before knowing are somehow doing.
