This exchange is hilarious.
Now we're comparing RB to QB? Trey Lance was one of the youngest QBs to enter the league and easily one of the least experienced ones to enter the league. You pretending he should've been pushed aside because he didn't seize his opportunity right away is hilarious.
QB is the toughest position to play and evaluate in sports. When you add the things that happened to Trey in his starts on top of it it makes his evaluation even tougher. Saying Brock took advantage of his opportunity is fair but to blindly make the comparison to Trey and say he didn't when the conditions the two played in were so drastically different is just crazy.
Also SWH was simply pointing out how hypocritical the logic you guys use is. Apparently with Trey something is a major flaw that doesn't sit well with you but with Jimmy or Brock or even Darnold for some reason it's a non issue.
Jimmy was 26 years old when he seized his opportunity in 2017 btw. Think Lance will be the same QB he was at 21/22 as he will be when he's 26?
Do we believe if Brock was forced to start week 1 last year he would've seized his opportunity the same way?

Not saying he should be pushed aside, it's just the reality tho. He's a backup. I notice genus, you keep wanting the circumstance to be exactly, 100% the same, but guys aren't the same, dif ages, dif colleges, dif abilities. With the rook contract, we are bound on that, we don't have the luxury to wait til TL is 26 or so to see what we got. That would be a few years from now, and who knows what team or coach we even have at that point, the league moves fast. You ask about BP starting week 1 of his rook season, but TL didn't do that either. TL started his year 2, as the 'guy'. BP started mid way into his year 1. But it's always gonna be slightly dif circumstance, and there is nothing we can do about that, just judge the guys based on how they look, and how they compete out there, when asked to play.

Brock 23/43 w/ 4 picks today.
Lance gets 2 attempts...
Lance has had the better camp so better be a short leash for Brock after how he played today. Lance needed those 43 attempts far more than Brock so we could have more data points on his improvement or lack thereof since when else would he get those reps.
That would be a good poll question - how short is the leash - if we are 4-3 or worse and BP playing mediocre do we make a switch?
At this point with the 49ers approach here apparently, Brock better be Joe ****ing Montana and win us a Lombardi OR Trey better bust.

Yes. Base what you see in training camp and practice.
Oh by the way nick Mullens went 14-20 with 140 yards and a td yesterday. Lets get heeeem back preseason HOF

If Trey threw 4 picks you'd have the opposite reaction.
But yes BP played at a top level for 7 games last year - sample size not nearly large enough, however.
Just wasting reps that Trey could use so THE TEAM can figure out what they have or don't have in Lance - because none of us knows. I want to know before handing over the reigns to Brock as if he was a top pick/prospect that we can more assuredly believe will maintain his level of play from last year.

If Trey plays well (2TDs in the 1st QTR or something).. Kyle might pull him early to get a good look at Sam.. and get Allen in there later in the game.
If it is true that Trey has seperated himself from Sam, then I'm sure Kyle would want to get a good look at BOTH Sam and Allen.

So if Trey isn't being pulled early, perhaps he hasn't really separate himself from Sam.
