It's wild to see the hatful comments in that tweet. I've never seen someone get hated on so bad by his own fan base. whatever with people outside of the 49er fan base. That's just what football does.

Dude does everything you want your QB to do. He's nothing but professional and supportive of everyone. He puts in all the work you want the QB to do. He sounds like a great all around human being and yet the hate is next level. Pretty f**king pathetic imo.

Yeah, gosh. You'd have to go all the way back to, I don't know, the Jimmy Garoppolo thread, to see anything like it. I swear, the stuff that comes out of your mouth.

Once again...go back and check the Jimmy G thread through his first 4 starts and tell me how much hate you saw there. Hell check how much hate was there even in 2018.

The "hate" didn't start for Jimmy until after the SB and even then most people were simply talking about his limitations and his injury concerns.

Bringing in the Jimmy, Alex and Kap drama into this thread so that 8t can continue it here is lame.

Y'all need to let it go.

The following should be ban-worthy in current QB threads...
JIMMY Fan/Lover/Club/Hater

Jimmy Hater

First of all why are you quoting me? I didn't bring up Jimmy in this case, just responding to the people trying to make the comparison.

Second Jimmy gets brought up in these threads because some people are bringing old arguments into this thread and some are changing their narratives on QBs based on the QB being discussed. One man's context is another man's excuse. And some simply don't like Trey because he was brought in to replace said QB.

You have your doubts that its easier to improve on everything that goes with short passing than it is to improve on long passing? I feel like I am in the twilight zone here. How can anyone possibly disagree with this? Its common sense.

I am not sure I agree. Do you have anything to support your argument?

You're kidding right?

First of all, it is not about completion % or accuracy % as the longer your throw the ball the less accurate. That wasn't what I was trying to argue.

Second, I don't look at accuracy in term of just completing the pass. I think on the shorter throws especially (apply to all distance throws), just completing the pass it not enough. You want just enough touch, and hit the receiver on stride for maximum YAC.

Third, it is about improving the short throws vs improving the long throws. I don't know what SteveWallacehelmet has in mind. Let say you rank all the QBs in 10 yard throw accurarcy, and do another ranking in 40 yard throw accurarcy. Is SteveWallacehelmet arguing it is easier to climb the ranks in the 10 yard throw accuracy than the 40 yard throw accurarcy? I have doubts about this.

Yes that was the wording used by SteveWallacesHelmet. I think SteveWallacesHelmet and I were talking about different things.

i can think of someone.

No kidding right. Some heavy contradiction going on above you Jose.

Right. He also fails to take into account that the fans have a right o be angry given that we have had zero return on the amount invested in Trey after two years. But I don't hate Trey. I think he's a great kid and is doing everything he can and I'm rooting for him. I just never saw anything that warranted the amount of draft capital on him.

But to complain about fans hating on him when worse was done to Jimmy is just hypocritical.

Yeah we must be talking about different things because it makes zero logical sense to say its easier to improve on long passes than it is on short passes. I am not talking about climbing ranks, I am strictly talking about improving. Has nothing to do with how the QB ranks against his peers. Just in terms of improving on that area of his game.

It just depends on exactly what you're talking about. If we're talking about short vs deep in an NFL game, with defense on the field, it's going to be a very nuanced debate starting with what type of routes we're comparing, what kind of throw is required, how much responsibility is on the QB to read the defense pre and post snap, footwork, timing….

For example, you might need to check a lot more boxes for a QB to consistently hit an in route in zone coverage than you would a playaction fake down the field where the QB is making one read and then has an entire side of the field to work with in terms of where he can put the ball.

Obviously if you're just talking about throws against air, short passes are going to be physically easier to improve because they're less demanding.

lol yes. And u've been given a TON of information to go and study up on regarding it if u still have any doubts.

I already explained why the information you provided was not relevant. We may not be talking about the same thing though.

Buddy, completing a 5 yard pass is much easier, why are you debating this. 🤣

We are talking about a completely different things. Easier vs easier to improve on.

Amazing you have to explain this, but I'm not surprised.

Easier to complete and easier to improve upon. 160 IQ 🤣

Get the f**k out of here with this BS.... yall are so fake.

The Mods will play along with your type of trolling though. They have for a long time now and hell a couple were former regular posters doing the same s**t on Alex Smith's behalf. I'm sure those are the ones who will give me a warning or ban for being honest with this post.

Edit- I don't post much anymore especially in the offseason...but I can't believe the same s**t is being allowed after all these years. Or I shouldn't be surprised.

Seriously these types of trolls know how to play the game on this forum so I'm telling yall if you want to have serious discussions block the obvious trolls.. the ones who argue in bad faith.. the ones who post in bad faith. If they keep being engaged and take serious or laughed at.. they will continue their s**t. Let them just s**t post with a few other trolls or with themselves with no audience but each other and people who lurk.

That escalated quickly, lol.
