I would agree. If he senses that he has no QB1 future here due to BP.

Kyle is a professional at getting his QBs hurt, literally batting 5/6 seasons. Lol so still a good chance he will play at some point.

he can want out all he wants but the question is whether a team wants him to be their starter or not. It's much more complicated than him just demanding to go elsewhere. Someone has to want him to be their starter enough to pay us what we want.

True about injuries. I'm just saying the kid needs to play to get better and if it's not here then he'll want to go where he can and who can blame him? My biggest fear is he blossoms elsewhere. With how this franchises luck has gone I'm almost sure whatever decision Kyle makes will be the wrong one lol.

I think the team holds him here if he starts to drastically improve, which it looks like he has. I wouldn't trade him. Lol

1) so many injuries we've had over the last 6 years
2) we still don't know really what Brock is. He was awesome but the jury is still out, so no reason to put all your eggs in one basket (darnolds basket doesn't count. Lol)

you can just see that he has better touch and is taking heat off the ball in the videos today. This is from deebo:

"If you ask me, Trey's gotten better since the last time I saw him, due to his injury," Samuel shared. "He's gotten better, so I'm excited to see how this camp will go."

Samuel was asked to expand on how Lance has improved.

"The way the ball is coming out," he responded. "He used to throw the ball kind of hard a lot. He kind of got a great touch to his ball now. He's more comfortable. He's more relaxed back there, and he looks a little bit more poised to me."

I don't think Trey is going to get disgruntled. I think he's just competing and doing what he can, which is all you can ask for. I also don't think it's in his character to throw a tantrum and demand a trade. MAYBE if Brock plays all year and kinda locks down the position, he asks for it after this season, but I don't see that happening this year. It's so early in camp that anything can happen

Sir, have you heard of the thing known, as opportunity cost? If BP is QB1, as you mention, you probably want to flex those $20m dollars, in maxing out your roster, to pursue a championship. Paying that amount, on a QB2, is wasteful. The whole idea of a QB on the cheap rook deal, is to do this. Now as we see, top picks on the rook deal, aren't exactly cheap. Pick 262s are, and this is something we would want to take advantage of, during the brief window.

I think, in a way, we have QB proofed this roster. Meaning, we shouldn't have to spend big on QB, the talent around can probably carry us, on O. Very few rosters have pulled this off, but we seem to have done it. And spending big on a QB2? Crazy. How can you justify, the QB2 making 20x more than the QB1? It's not a matter of can we afford. It's a matter of, is this the best use of this $20m, that we can possibly think of, to win a SB?

Your opinion but I know as a 49er fan that watched the end of last season that we need both our young guns. As well I know that playoff QB salaries are through the roof and if we can get to the playoffs with these guys we are coming out dirt cheap. I would rather have Brock and Trey over what Kirk Cousins will likely cost us

It is the right move to keep our young and relatively cheap QB room. It would also make Trey look foolish to pout when all he has to do is compete win or lose. If you lose to Brock then get better but you don't flee or run. You just work and get better

Absolutely zero chance we pick up that option if he's not starting.

We gave up 3 first round picks and a third round pick to let him walk out the door? This after missing on Mahomes?

If this happens someone has to get fired (KS/JL), no?

Well what pill is saying is sorta subjective, right? He said the kid will be good - but what does that mean? Like top 15? Top 10? I don't think anyone doubts that Lance will improve and be a good qb in the league.

personally, I just question if he will be that top 6 caliber elite qb in the league. I've always said I see him like dak and I think daks good. Top 8-11 qb depending on the week. I'd be thrilled if he proved me wrong.

Sounds like he had a really good day today. He's doing everything right so far. It's going to be fun! He seems so much more confident and decisive.

I comped Trey at Donovan McNabb the moment he was drafted. I figured a guy like that should do well with Andy Reid or Kyle Shanahan. Thing is Brock showed golden boy traits last year despite his scouting report. I ain't saying Trey will be HOF, but because he has talent and he is working at an elite level he should be a good QB in time. We already know Brock can be damn good because he showed it last year

You do know they could do a 2 year extension, assuming Trey wants to stay, to lower that cap number. Other teams have done that exact same thing.

Did you see we kept Jimmy despite what most thought. We did not get our asking price so we held onto our asset. QBs are a commodity in this league and even with Jimmy walking we STILL are getting a 3rd in next year's draft
If we can keep Trey at a reasonable price going forward, we absolutely must. I still think he hasn't even scratched the surface of what he's capable of. We had 3 QBs get injured last year. Our #4 didn't even give us a chance. In a perfect world, we have Brock/Trey/Sam on the active roster and Allen on the PS. Seems doubtful we'll be able to have all 4 for maximum insurance. But if I had to choose at least 2 guys to keep here longer term, it'd be Brock and Trey, easily.

He's a draft pick that hasn't earned anything. This is his 3rd season. He's extremely young and making a ton of money.

You've got the kid all wrong. Lance is all in this year.
Lance is going to go into the season as the #2 QB.

Recent 49ers QB history suggests that at some point, the #2 QB will play.

If he plays well (and importantly shows he's better/different than BP), the 49ers might hand him the keys moving forward much like JH did with CK back in 2012.

I think as many ppl will get canned here, as got canned at GSW, for the Wiseman pick. Winning solves everything. I'm not a huge NBA guy, but I don't see any heads rolling from the Wiseman situation. So to the extent the team wins, these guys are good.

I definitely saw it. I was one of the very few people here advocating for it and predicting it would happen (once he wasn't traded following sugery). It's not a remotely similar situation to picking up Trey's 5th year option at this point.
