he can want out all he wants but the question is whether a team wants him to be their starter or not. It's much more complicated than him just demanding to go elsewhere. Someone has to want him to be their starter enough to pay us what we want.

I personally would not want an unproven guy that wants to cry and run away without standing his ground and fighting where he is at. I would want a guy like Trey to say "hey, remember me? I am the third overall pick and I am gonna beat out this 7th round scrub!" If I were a GM I would side eye Trey for running away from the 49ers or demanding out. What you can't beat out a 7th rounder that has only played 8 games while you've played four? You won't even try?

I think it's a lil more complicated than that, in that if BP is healthy, he is the #1. There is no comp, for QB1. It's BP. It was a matter of is he healthy for week 1, now seemingly, he is. So TL seemingly is boxed out here.

And as we have seen, things can change quickly with the 49ers QB situation. Trey has 2 years left on his deal (assuming no 5th year option).

You still gotta stay and fight. You were drafted to the best team in the league and you are gonna not even fight for your spot vs a 7th rounder? You have to believe in yourself for me to believe in you. If I think I have Lebron James talent I am gonna fight for my spot in the starting lineup vs the guy starting ahead of me selected with the very last compensatory pick. The only way I would leave is if my contract is up or I get traded away but I would not request to go somewhere else just because I can't beat out Brock. That does not even sound right to me. You have to at least try and fail

They will pick up the option because Brock is so cheap and won't have to be extended until right prior to his own 4th year. We have a good thing going and we are not here to do Brock or Trey any favors other than providing them with great players and coaches around them and an opportunity to win. We will keep Trey as long as we can afford to keep him unless we get what we want for him. Never again will CMC slide under center as QB1

NFL certainly stands for Not For Long. I am hopeful injury can be a thing of the past. The only other thing that would open this up, is if BP just flat sucks, or regresses. As ppl are suggesting, he will. I don't see it if the arm is back to 100%. The supporting cast is such, that BP will look real good out there.

If Brock is healthy he will NOT suck! The only way he disappoints is if he is injured. A healthy Brock gives us a chance at the top seed in the NFC

No way in hell we're paying 20M for a QB2 / QB3 fifth-year option.

The mention of option has me like Jim Mora, at the mention of playoffs

We are getting QB1 if it is Brock for virtually nothing so we can afford it if it comes down to it. We don't have to pay Brock until year 4 so we have plenty of time with both guys and this team if any knows we need multiple QB options

Sir, have you heard of the thing known, as opportunity cost? If BP is QB1, as you mention, you probably want to flex those $20m dollars, in maxing out your roster, to pursue a championship. Paying that amount, on a QB2, is wasteful. The whole idea of a QB on the cheap rook deal, is to do this. Now as we see, top picks on the rook deal, aren't exactly cheap. Pick 262s are, and this is something we would want to take advantage of, during the brief window.

I think, in a way, we have QB proofed this roster. Meaning, we shouldn't have to spend big on QB, the talent around can probably carry us, on O. Very few rosters have pulled this off, but we seem to have done it. And spending big on a QB2? Crazy. How can you justify, the QB2 making 20x more than the QB1? It's not a matter of can we afford. It's a matter of, is this the best use of this $20m, that we can possibly think of, to win a SB?
Trey starting camp 5/5

Here's Lance throwing receivers open to get that YAC

The ESPN app won't let me copy and paste but they posted an article of players who careers depend on this year going well and Lance was one of them.

it's just kinda funny cause the author is saying what a lot of us are saying "are they really moving on from Trey after a few starts?". Lol

I'm not a big Trey Lance fan, I don't dislike him, i just don't see him as becoming some great QB. Regardless how I feel, I think he should be QB2 and given all the first team reps that Brock isn't going to take. Then let him prove to the team that he can't handle it or someone else can do it better. When a guy is as raw as he is, those reps really matter. Giving them to darnold isnt nearly as impactful. I'm very surprised that they're doing an honest split with darnold & Lance. Seems very odd to me.

Trey has the makeup to be a stud QB and the mentality and the work ethic and the age and the measurables. There is no way he won't be great somewhere once he gets the right opportunity. Might not be here but I know his type and the kid will be good
If it was so easy to determine the greatness of a qb then the bust rate for qbs would be zero. It's not.

Well what pill is saying is sorta subjective, right? He said the kid will be good - but what does that mean? Like top 15? Top 10? I don't think anyone doubts that Lance will improve and be a good qb in the league.

personally, I just question if he will be that top 6 caliber elite qb in the league. I've always said I see him like dak and I think daks good. Top 8-11 qb depending on the week. I'd be thrilled if he proved me wrong.

Sounds like he had a really good day today. He's doing everything right so far. It's going to be fun! He seems so much more confident and decisive.

Absolutely zero chance we pick up that option if he's not starting.

I would agree. If he senses that he has no QB1 future here due to BP.

True about injuries. I'm just saying the kid needs to play to get better and if it's not here then he'll want to go where he can and who can blame him? My biggest fear is he blossoms elsewhere. With how this franchises luck has gone I'm almost sure whatever decision Kyle makes will be the wrong one lol.
