Nothing ridiculous about this. Trey hasn't shown Kyle that he is better than Darnold.

Sam hasn't shown he's better than Trey either.

He may have. He may not have. Kinda an odd argument to say either or of what Kyle thinks.

We'll see what happens but we all know Trey needs reps, whether QB1 or not, reps is 100% what he needs. If Kyle goes several practices giving Trey 3-5 throws per practice he's pretty much cutting the kid off at the knees which is dumb as hell. I hope that won't be the case.

I try to view it as what is in the best interest of the team, not what is in the best interest of Trey. KS has to put the team first. I believe you posted that real guys, find a way to overcome adversity, and rise. So it doesn't have to be handed to TL, for him to have opportunities and rise up the chart. He can/will have to earn it.

I expect Trey to earn it however logic says best thing for the team is to improve the two QBs with the most talent and under contract beyond this season.

Brock has 8 NFL starts
Trey has 4 NFL starts
Sam has 55 NFL starts

Who needs more reps?

Anyways we'll see soon enough! Thank god we finally get to see some football again.

The question isn't, who needs more reps? The question is, who can best help our team win games if called upon in a QB2 role?

I hope Darnold never sees the field for this team, but you can't ignore that Darnold has shown the most important ability that we haven't seen from Trey yet, availability.

The availability to suck is not a good ability unless we are talking about girlfriends.

David speaking truth, and Grant being a troll; some things never change

David is speaking something that's as obvious as "Oh look the sun came out this morning"

Lombardi is getting petty to the point that he's becoming as biased as Cohn but trying to be more discreet about it(and failing)

What are you talking about? Lombardi is one of the guys who is against trading Trey, and generally positive about him. He posts one metric based graph that doesn't paint him in a glowing light, and suddenly he is biased? Ridiculous.

I'm talking about what everyone else sees. Hell you're literally responding to another tweet from him that isn't referring that metric and you wanna act like it was just that chart showing his recent bias?

Go look at Cohn's coverage of OTAs and Minicamp and then compare it to Lombardi's the same practice. They are yin/yang when it comes to Trey.

Grant adds in things to make Trey look better. Lombardi adds things to make him look worse.

I'm 100% sure nobody is winning any meaningful games for us in training camp.

Grant Cohn must be desperate as all hell to come up with a way that Trey can overtake Brock as QB1. I root for Trey as much as the next guy but really Grant give it a rest. I mean he asks two questions (really one just phrased differently twice) in the presser just an hour ago, completely Trey-obsessed. Is butthurt AF just wondering why he can't become starter.

What did he ask?

sure genus, but we need the answer prior to the meaningful games taking place. so that's what is going on here imo.

It's a good point, 2/3 of these guys are under contract beyond this season. I feel like darnold needs to just be good enough to fill in. Lance needs to play better than him still but I expected him to get the lion share of quality reps

Yes Trey needs as many reps as he can get. But he has to earn it and that fits the Kyle mentality.

So what would he have to do to earn it? Kyle had a better idea than anyone else how raw Trey may have been when he drafted him, so to them say he had to earn those reps seems counterintuitive. What exactly did he do to earn the starting job last year? If Kyle's mentality is to make them earn it then I'd say he already has.

And Sam is far from an iron man.

I'm with you on that, I have zero desire to see Sam Darnold taking meaningful reps for this team. I have never thought he was a good qb. I think Trey wins qb 2 handily.

I still say until he cuts that hair he's always going to lag behind his true potential.

I mean at some point you have to accept that nature cursed you with a prematurely receding hairline and do what looks best for you. He would look a lot better with a fade, and will be more aerodynamic (well, he'll at least have better air conditioning in his helmet, if less padding).

LOL, I mean, I relate. I had to start shaving my head around 25, maybe Trey just needs to feel that out. Just silly how much flak he takes in here for it. It's tough to filally let go of those flocks for some.

Poor guys. I suppose it's better to get it on top of your head than the hair line. Apparently that's not only easier to treat, it's also easier to hide.

He was handed the job without competition. They sidelined a QB who had success with the team and was a better short term option in an effort to trade him as part of that process. It was a managerial f**k up and now they've course corrected. Brock emerging obviously helped.

Trey's first step is winning the backup competition with Darnold. If he plays great, maybe he forces a competition with Purdy or at least is first up if Purdy regresses or is hurt.
