Lombardi is getting petty to the point that he's becoming as biased as Cohn but trying to be more discreet about it(and failing)

Often a player change the mechanics in the off-season, it works in practice, but once in real game situation, the mechanic goes back to what it was before the change. So until you see Trey on the field in game day, you never know this mechanic tweak is going to hold up or not. There was nothing toxic about what David said.

Did you just ignore my whole post? There is nothing wrong with it because it's obvious. It didn't need to be said.

Lombardi posts virtually nothing 49er related all day and then suddenly posts that up. Why? Is he giving us some riveting new information? Is he writing a story about how throwing vs air isn't the same as throwing in an actual football game with defenses out there?

He's been making it a common theme to make unnecessary posts basically downplaying some excitement about Lance and it's weird.

I remember when Lance threw the pick to Hyder in minicamp back in May or whenever it was and after posting nothing about any other plays that day Lombardi was like the first one on twitter to talk about Lance throwing the pick. Sure it was a report on what happened and maybe it's a coincidence but he certainly wasn't quick to post about Darnold's picks. It's just weird and him acting all superior to fans isn't a great look either.

Most teams backups usually aren't someone you even remotely want to be in the game

I hope we don't ever have to see QB2 take a snap this year. But I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be on the edge of my seat if it happened.

I hope we see QB2 in every game this season...as they're taking the victory formation in a blowout win as QB1 celebrates on the sidelines nice and healthy

Yup. That's what has to get sorted, in the coming weeks. QB depth is always important, in SF, and we need to firm up who the #2 guy is. I would expect both guys, to play well, given our coaching, talent, etc.

We already know who Sam Darnold is. He's not magically going to be a better play in year 6 . Trey on the other hand needs as many reps as possible due to his inexperience. Shutting him down some days makes no sense at all.

He could be magically better. Or just better coaching. Happened around year 6 for Alex Smith. As a disclaimer I'm a Lance guy and hope to not see Darnold out there. We need to force feed Lance reps. I don't even care if Darnold is performing better in camp. Give Lance reps

We'll see what happens but we all know Trey needs reps, whether QB1 or not, reps is 100% what he needs. If Kyle goes several practices giving Trey 3-5 throws per practice he's pretty much cutting the kid off at the knees which is dumb as hell. I hope that won't be the case.

There were reports that neither darnold or lance separated from each other in mini camp, which is no biggie. I just think the team is putting mad pressure on Lance to perform, which isn't a big deal either. I view it as it's lances to lose.

i was surprised that they are making him split QB2 reps though. Lance should pull through. I thought they'd give him all the reps to grow and prove himself

I try to view it as what is in the best interest of the team, not what is in the best interest of Trey. KS has to put the team first. I believe you posted that real guys, find a way to overcome adversity, and rise. So it doesn't have to be handed to TL, for him to have opportunities and rise up the chart. He can/will have to earn it.

Yes Trey needs as many reps as he can get. But he has to earn it and that fits the Kyle mentality.

What are you talking about? Lombardi is one of the guys who is against trading Trey, and generally positive about him. He posts one metric based graph that doesn't paint him in a glowing light, and suddenly he is biased? Ridiculous.

I expect Trey to earn it however logic says best thing for the team is to improve the two QBs with the most talent and under contract beyond this season.

Brock has 8 NFL starts
Trey has 4 NFL starts
Sam has 55 NFL starts

Who needs more reps?

I hope Darnold never sees the field for this team, but you can't ignore that Darnold has shown the most important ability that we haven't seen from Trey yet, availability.
