Apparently both of them are being too conservative. Sam more so than Trey, but both are doing it. Good thing we have Brock. No matter what happens we'll have a guy who can execute and make off schedule plays.

And what's wrong with that? Purdy was conservative and took the shots when things were there...nothing wrong with being conservative especially that's the one area Trey was being criticized for the most was not being accurate in the short areas.
This is a positive thing and not sure why this should be spun into a negative thing

all TL has done is shorten the loading portion of his delivery and made it more efficient, the rest is the same... still slashing across his body, leading elbow still not high enough over the shoulder plane, still not starting from the ground up and using his legs to release the ball... not expecting much of a change in accuracy, just getting the ball out a little faster and thats about it
Yeah I mean this smells hating for the sake of hating. Unless you're some secret QB guru, I rather trust the experts vs a couch GM

I felt like he wasn't accurate in general but his short game did need work.
i imagine he will, or at least should, get more aggressive as the off-season goes on. It makes sense because he's still trying to get used to his new throwing motion and mechanics. He should get comfy with the short game and expand as he gets more comfortable.
im not too worried. Sams probably throwing short as he learns the playbook. You don't do what they're doing and just start gunning it deep. Lol better for Sam to understand what's going on, especially close. And then it's better for Trey to get comfortable with his new throwing motion and mechanics in the short game and then out. I think Of it like what Purdy will do with throwing rehab. Start short and work out.

Exactly.... People need to stop nitpicking every little thing and just let the kid play. What were you doing when you were 23? Probably getting drunk at the club.
Let the kid cook and judge rather than now. We as fans all want the 6th, but just be patient. Good things and things in general will play itself out. Just believe in the kid.

If they're not being more aggressive during camp, that'll be a little worrisome. I don't think Trey will have any chance to unseat Purdy, or make Kyle more confident, if he doesn't get more aggressive with the ball. Same for darnold. Kyle likes his QBs to be comfortable slinging it.
i think Trey will end up winning QB2, but i think a big factor in the decision between Sam/Lance will be based around who was more aggressive and accurate doing it.
and no, I'm not saying either isn't aggressive. I'm saying they need to show it this training camp. I believe it'll be an important factor for kyle's depth

Man, our new safety brown is a ball hawk! He already has 4 picks on OTAs and dropped a fifth one.
who the hell is this guy picking off?? Lol super impressive. Only player in the country last two years to rack up 10 int in college.
anykne know who he's picking off? It doesn't really matter towards the qb battle, just curious who he is getting them on.

Totally disagree. If you played to the level as the last pick in the draft in college for multiple years….Then all of a sudden play damn good ball for 7 games AND part of the reason for that is TD% and TD/INT ratio (which are extremely volatile stats). Yeah it's reasonable to assume regression. Toss in some questionable film that no one wants to touch on because they want him to be great so bad…look I hope he balls out forever and there is no drop off. To assume there will be none is in fact silly. Especially with no off season and a massive injury to his throwing arm.
Add whatever with woo.
He is already great. Why be mad because someone thinks he is great?
He's "Great." Love the way that word is thrown around.
Trigger words are underlined, btw.

Everyone who is a niners fan and not just a fan of a player.
What we have going on right now is alot of guys were dumped off from the Jimmy bandwagon and are scurrying like bugs to hunker themselves down in a new camp before things get started.
For true football fans,...both guys battling for the same spot will be nothing less than pure enjoyment to follow. Neither guy has enough reps to warrant any camps and some of these guys are just bored.

I tend to think completion percentage matters in OTA's when the media is present I'm sure they work on deep ball stuff in other sessions. Not concerned

Play music just a heads up. If you've been paying attention, it is three months of light throwing he just had his first throwing session so add three months on to that that's deep into preseason games.
I am aware it's unlikely, I'm just saying that would be the best outcome everyone should be rooting for. Having your QB room healthy and competing at the same time and showing who should be the guy based on what they're showing vs their draft status or even what they did last season(when it's a short sample size)
If Brock is that guy then great - we don't have to pay him right away like we did with Jimmy. Lots of years left on his career.
If Trey is that guy then great - likewise and obviously you salvage the draft pick you used for him.
If Sam is that guy it's not ideal but hopefully he would help us win it all and then we worry about paying him after.
Either way you want the best guy now and hopefully for the future of your team cuz I'm so friggin tired of these QB conversations. We gotta find our long term solution!

Well unfortunately, the QB conversation isn't going to stop even if we win a SB. Because if the "wrong guy" wins the SB it will be because of the coach, Defense and supporting cast. No matter the QB, they will not receive any credit. We've seen it with JG taking us to a SB and 2 NFFCCG in 3 years. We seen it with Brock after the year he had last year. It's going to continue to happen.

Neither tbh if they stay being conservative when it's training camp then there will be reason for concern. Maybe they were just working on check downs yesterday.
