1. reviewing film regardless of the outcome of the game should not be considered "hating".
This was a huge problem in the JG thread where discussion was routinely stopped because review of negative film was deemed to be "hating". To me, reviewing film is one of the main reasons I come to the webzone, and posters who try to limit these discussions are projecting their biases.

What a load of crap. Not the notion per se, but when you consider the source, it's a pretty laughable statement. The only film review you have ever shown any interest in as far as Jimmy goes, was a detailed "review" of his mistakes. In fact, you specifically asked jonnydel why he didn't spend more time on breaking down Jimmy's mistakes in his videos.

There were also, just as two examples which you may or may not have taken part in, the 10 pages that were devoted to the "analysis" of whether or not a pass that Jimmy completed to Deebo against Chicago for a TD was a "good pass" or not. It went for a TD, who cares.

Then there was the other classic breakdown of a pass that practically hit Kittle in the hands, but which he dropped, negating what might have been a pretty good gain, in a game they also won I believe. There were days of posts featuring GIFs from multiple angles trying to prove that it was really Jimmy's fault that Kittle dropped the ball and that the pass should have been 'six inches further" in front of him. I actually don't have a problem with people offering up legitimate criticism on any player, but there is a point at which it just seems to become an obsession with some folks and goes way beyond the pretense of "just talking football" or "Objective" analysis.

Solomon Thomas was a favorite punching bag while he was here because he wasn't Patrick Mahomes and never lived up to his draft status. Arik Armstead and Jimmy Ward, guys who became important parts of the defense, went through two years of being called bums because they couldn't stay on the field. Now Lance is the target of some of this chatter, which seems a bit unfair because, he hasn't really shown enough, one way or the other, to be considered either a bust or a future starter. His chance to shine is coming though, and it will be up to him to make something of it. Time will tell. I guess.

LOL way to incriminate yourself 81. You're exactly the poster who was/is most guilty of condemning any negative film review of your favorite QB.

My take on the positive and negative film on the webzone is well documented,

"I don't think its fair you keep bringing JD into this and referring to his videos as the basis of all objectivity. I've asked him in the past about why some of the most controversial plays aren't shown on his videos after games we win (Example: The Kittle touchdown that was called back was not included in this week's video) . And from my understanding he's not trying to be balanced in his choice of clips to show each week in terms of positive and negative plays. He's teaching the intricacies of our scheme, breaking down individual plays/play design, showing tendencies, and sharing his overall thoughts on the game. The focus isn't to accurately recap the entire game play by play, its to teach, and I appreciate them for that. So during "winning weeks" we're only seeing positive plays on offense on his videos. I've repeatedly said there's nothing wrong with that and that I, nor anyone else, should tell him what he or any other content creator should create." -WB

In response to the bolded. You're wrong. I love watching all types of film and my desire to review negative plays is not predicated on my personal stance on any specific QB. I like to review negative film due to my HS OL/DL coach. He taught us how to recognize and correct our mistakes. Reviewing touchdowns and positive plays were not a focus of his.

Another reason is for why negative film is more prominent/more focused on... SWH explained perfectly. "when Jimmy or anyone else for that matter, make a fantastic play, an overwhelming majority of posters are in agreement about the play. There is no need for massive discussions on great plays, because regardless of personal opinion on the player, the play was great! There is no need for discussion.

Take the Kittle play for example. I have posted many times in this thread that Jimmy made an incredible throw, but he chose the wrong receiver and that ultimately led to an incompletion and a field goal instead of an easy TD. Yet, the usual suspects couldnt even take that "criticism" in stride and spent pages arguing with people. They call it nitpicking. They call it hating. They even make things up like Aaron Donald clogged up a passing lane. They call it irrelevant because we won.

The reason the negatives outweigh the positives in terms of post count is because you dont see the people who dislike Jimmy spending pages arguing good plays like you see the people who love Jimmy spend pages arguing bad pla ys." -SWH

What happens is posters like yourself get mad when any negative film is posted, and reply with something like you just said, it "went for a TD, who cares", or "we won, who cares about these plays". And everytime you do that you out yourself.... yet you still think you're objective and everyone else is biased. That's next level delusion.

Keep telling yourself that. Jimmy and winner don't belong in the same sentence. Good luck Oakland…. He will be released and nobody will claim him.

Math tells me that.

Facts over feelings.

Math. Yea.

I do consider Jimmy being gone addition by subtraction. We no longer have a huge cap hit on IR or on the bench hurt every season

Now we have huge capital, 3 first and a 3rd, on IR or on the bench every season, cool.

He's not cheap either as far as a backup is concerned. Even worse if he can't beat out Darnold.

The one thing I would say though is it's common to invest in QB depth when you don't have an established 'franchise' QB, which has been our situation for the last two seasons and going into this one.

Perfect example is Trey missing Kroft against the Bears. Bad play by Trey no doubt about it. Yet somehow that shows he's cant play the position at a high enough level.

Meanwhile Jimmy would miss that play routinely and it never mattered. Hell when Jimmy was late with throws it became the receivers fault for not high pointing and catching it. Nothing was ever Jimmy's fault. Why? Because the TEAM won. Even when they lost it was someone else at the forefront, usually Kyle (see Denver)

Young guys deserve more breaks when they struggle because they are young. When Brock or Trey get 30+ starts however the expectation should be high. Slightly above average just isn't going to cut it.

Best I could do.

So looks like 1st 2 1/2 games he was near the bottom.

The next 4 games he would have been top of the league

WHAT PURDY DOES WELLRookie quarterbacks are often susceptible to careless play as they adjust to the NFL, but only 3.1% of Purdy's pass attempts were deemed turnover-worthy between Week 13 and the end of the regular season, which ranked 15th out of 30 qualifying quarterbacks. It's an average number, but an impressive one for a first-year signal-caller. If we just look at his past four games — including the wild-card round win over the Seattle Seahawks — his turnover-worthy pass rate drops to just 1.6%, which would have been the best rate in the entire league during the 2022 regular season.

Ao it seems he got better and didn't get "figured out" like some say.

Overall he would have been middle of the pack if he qualified.

Bad throws are bad throws. Simple as that. Lance had his fair share. It's okay to talk about it….hopefully he doesn't regress to the mean on those almost INTs and bad reads….he's not getting a full off season to work on all that, which stinks.

Jimmy missed a wide open Juszcyk against Tennessee that was much worse than Treys miss to Kroft.

What else would you call them? The ball hit the defender in both hands. That second one is an interception probably 9/10 times and Diggs just dropped it.
