He didn't say it was impossible, just that it will be hard. Which it will be once live bullets are flying. I don't see how thats LOL

You ARE acting like he is old. You explicitly stated its hard to change his mechanics "at this stage." Well, "this stage" is 23 years old. When would be a stage where it isnt hard to make changes? When he is 21? In high school? Middle school?

Lance is young enough that any talk about his age being a reason he cant change mechanics is ridiculous.

Hmm kind of is to me. Young is unproven, had bad injuries, expensive, and has a year or so left? I'd rather keep Trey as the backup.

id rather have Montez sweat from them and some draft picks

You say unproven yet Lance as a back up is the good idea.

Trey might very well end up being our QB3.

TL has to beat out Brandon Allen first to be our QB3, that won't be easy.

Yes
I got a serious question. I understand this is now Purdy's team and the best Lance can get this summer is the number 2 spot. My question is, outside of a Purdy injury is there anything Lance can do this training camp to get the starter job back or is it to late?

I would say if he looks like the Second Coming in training camp and pre-season, then yeah maybe.

He has to convince Kyle that he's the best option to start in the short term. I'd imagine that would look like clear fundamental improvement and consistent success throughout camp and preseason.

Not quite sure how involved Purdy can/will be going forward (in preparation for the season) but it probably doesn't help Lance that he is effectively competing against what Purdy accomplished last year instead of whatever Purdy is going to show going forward. It's a high standard.

Part of me feels he will show them a big improvement from his first 2 seasons but there mind is already made up they want Purdy, I honestly don't know anything realistic he can show them to change there mind.

I think its great that Purdy played so well during the second half of the season and playoffs but he is a young player that has played a total of nine games. and has alot still to prove in my opinion. I wouldnt be so final in my decision if I were Shany.

I guess will have to wait until training camp and pre season to know if he offers those things. I'm rooting for him. I just feel defeated. I feel no matter how much improvement he shows the fact Purdy never lost a regular season game and won his 2 healthy ones that's gonna be enough to make him the starter no matter how good Lance looks.

True i agree. With Shany and the constant QB injuries it could be any one starting during the season.

Yeah, I think Lance can prime himself to give Purdy a shorter leash and give Kyle a lot of confidence in him. Idk if he could overall take the job before Purdy gets a chance, but anything is possible. I think Lance would have to be playing out of his mind well to do that in camp.

like Smokey said, Lance is competing against what Purdy accomplished last year. So I'd imagine the plan is to give Purdy first shot at it and how he does will determine a lot, fluid situation. I think the most important thing Lance can do is operate the offense at a level near or at Purdys ability last year, to give Kyle that confidence to make a switch if Purdy isn't playing as well as we all hope.

i think Purdy would have to play average or so and struggling in the first five games or so before Kyle would make that kind of switch, but who knows.

i just want to see Lance continue to improve and stay healthy. Lol if he starts the season healthy, it'll be the first time ever and that's a win in and of itself hahah

You feel defeated?

You should feel good that we don't have to depend on this kind of improvement and have a guy who did nothing but play extraordinarily well in his first stretch as a pro. The offense was dominant.

Purdy is a 7th rounder who fought to earn a spot on the roster and answered the call when he got an opportunity. He's earned his position. Lance can do it as well, and our team will be better for it no matter the result.
