Yeah and Darnold doesn't even know the offense. Also Darnold is not exactly high in football IQ and the mental game. So it might take him longer than most QB's to learn Kyle's offense.

They ran a somewhat related offense when he was in NY in 2018 with Jeremy Bates as the coordinator (guy was a Mike Shanahan pupil), so it shouldn't be THAT drastic a leap.

EDIT—Trey Lance

What do you mean by saying he's not high in football IQ or the mental game?

He went 3 overall just like TL. Those guys get lots of scrutiny in those areas.
Sam darnolds salary cap is $1.2M more than originally expected. Overall $5.1M cap hit

Regardless who ends up QB3 - that's a lot. Lol cheapest starting qb in the league and then most expensive back ups in the league. Hahha

I still think Trey is moved on draft day. Anything 3rd round or better, Niners are all ears. Would enable to bundle some picks to move up and grab RT.

Theyll draft another QB in the later rounds. I think they are happy with Darnold until Purdy returns. Trey is the odd man out.

From 3 ones to one 3.. the Trey Lance story

I don't like it

I'd a little surprised if he gets traded on draft night, unless it's a good offer. I'd prefer at least a second that is conditional on his playtime etc.

i think they'll wait until after June 2, when they'll get a better idea of Purdys injury timeline. Then they know where we stand and during camp or early in the season he may get traded to a qb needy team.

None of us do but unless we grab another tackle, none our QBs will make it thru the year! Definitely a catch 22.

Sadly, our need for a RT makes us trade a guy we don't want to!

I understand your logic but there is a screaming need to draft a RT!

Isn't that kinda the point? Like, we've had so many injuries at the QB position in recent years. And yet a lot of people want to make the signing of Darnold an indictment on Trey. When in reality, and all 49ers fans have seen this first hand, we've strengthened a group that needs bodies. But no… Kyle doesn't think Trey can be a backup… lol.

Lets put it this way, if Kyle doesn't think Trey can be a QB2, we should fire him/remove him from anything draft related.

Exactly my thoughts. Tenn for 41 plus conditional '24 pick

Im the one who's been saying kyle isn't very good at identifying qb prospects in the draft. It you and others that say I'm a fool for not blindly believing he is the messiah and to not question it.

he's infatuated with cousins for some reason and it cost us either mahommes or Allen. That's the best guy he's ever drafted. Or whoever the hell it was in that same draft. Watson. Can't remember

That would be perfect! Draft Bergeron RT and the team is better immediately.

I think Sam can run things, however, listening to KS he says check back in June on BP. So that doesn't give confidence he will even be back for 2023. Or maybe, mid to late season. Who knows exactly? So with BP not known on when he is returning, it's hard for me to see KS part with TL, until that return of BP is more clear. So maybe if a TL trade happens, it's midseason or at the trade deadline, once BP is back. I'd be a lil stunned otherwise.

He said June because that's when when Brock can start throwing
