You can tell there's not much going on in sports right now, especially football. Not when we spend this time arguing the difference between splitting time or sharing time. Are thye all going to get the exact same number of snaps? Who knows. The point is that Kyle and I assume Brian Griese want to give all of them a chance.

At the risk of continuing to indulge what is essentially a deflection in the actual argument, 'splitting' and 'sharing' are synonyms. You guys can use words in your own unique ways, but they have actual definitions. That's why you'll see splits defined in conversation and in writing. When someone says it's an 'even split' that isn't a case of redundancy. When someone says '60/40 split', split isn't being used incorrectly.
Hopefully we can move on!

It's really just Trey fans twisting words around to win an argument again

Taking reps means he's taking reps at multiple positions. Splitting reps means he's spending half his time at one spot and another at another.
Just throw the towel here NY
Not my fault ya'll have no clue what it means

It has been a decade or more since I have attended an open training camp, but is it not normal for the back up QBs to get several first time reps during TC?
Technically you can say all QBs share reps every TC, or split reps. Hell you can look at most NFL season and say XYZ QBs split season snaps. Just because Garbac came in for a few snaps in a season does not mean he split snaps with Steve Young, and no one would even mention it.
The only reason to point out that QBs are splitting reps in TC is to indicate that there will not be a designated "starter" at QB.
Trey better be balling out this offseason, the trajectory of his NFL career very well might be decided based on how he prepared this offseason. It sounds like he is in a QB battle to be the back up QB, if he wants to be a starter he needs his absolute A game. He has had a dream landing spot in the NFL, being an understudy to Jimmy G, with access to great QB coaching, in a great NFL system. Alex Smith would have killed for this kind of stability and opportunity. Trey has an opportunity to grab the world by shirt tails and be the man. I hope he has taken it very seriously this off season.

Well no one said the word split. They said Sam would get some 1st team reps. People then said they would be splitting. I'm my world, that term has always meant down the middle. Maybe people view that term differently…no one I know or have been around have used it any other way, unless they said 60/40 or whatever.
yes moving on. QB threads are the worst.

I'm not going to worry about reps until we actually see what the deal is but Kyle did say Trey absolutely has the opportunity to win the starting job.

LMAO, I think I'm finally starting to get it. Until now I couldn't figure out why there was always so much arguing going on in here. I mean, we're all 49ers fans (except a random few) but when I went to my first live football game it was the best experience of my life. I was literally surrounded by fellow fans and got to spend the entire time talking football. I always thought the forum was another version of that but it most definitely ain't. Some of y'all just literally come here to get your rocks off on arguing. I should have seen it a ways back, but all this "take the L" or "throw in the towel" or whatever else. I do know there's a ton of fans here that do come just to chat it up with fellow fans, but wow. Should I congratulate you on the W? I mean, exactly how big of a deal is it when you guys are able to win an argument? With other 49ers fans?

It begins with Purdy: Though we all hope he is ready to go for game 1, if he has a signficiant setback in his recovery which would result in him not being ready until October or later, we are stuck with a rookie or some retread vet. While the price might be right, the quality of play might be Johnson-level. That would only work if Lance balls out right from the jump.
Which brings us to the problem with Lance. If he doesn't ball out right away, or at least show significant progress, Lynch cannot let a 2-3 early games slip away hoping he improves.
All that to say, Lynch had to buy high in order to keep the "All In" sign on his desk. It is just the necessary price to reduce the worst case risk scenario.
What has Darnold shown his his time in the NFL that would indicate 2-3 games wouldn't slip away? Wouldn't we also be hoping he improves the whole time?
That is a question for Kyle. Apparently, he thinks Darnold in this system would win games. Kyle must have been impressed with how he played after Rhule left. Also, Kyle has had a good chat with Wilks on that matter, we can be sure of that.

Regardless what the team said respecting Brock being the guy, Trey Lance still has a really opportunity. Performance on the field is what matters so Trey still has an opportunity to settle things with his play.
what I hope is that this isn't an indictment of just how bad Trey Lance really is. We'll see.
