LOL. You all need a dictionary. Split means to break something into parts, and can include even splits or otherwise.

By the way, a split pot isn't always divided evenly ;)

In what situations is a pot not split evenly in poker?

Pretty sure it goes like this: Say you, me and SmokeyJoe are playing Texas Hold 'em, and the river was just put down. The pot is $500. SmokeyJoe bets $200. I call his bet and put down $200. However, you only have $100 left, but you still play and go all in. And by some miracle, we all have a Broadway straight, sharing an ace in the community cards. So we all win. How do you split the $1000 pot? You can only win back at most what you put in, so you get $100, while me and SmokeyJoe get to split the remaining $900.

EVENLY split the remaining $900

Taking reps means he's taking reps at multiple positions. Splitting reps means he's spending half his time at one spot and another at another.

Just throw the towel here NY

LMAO, I think I'm finally starting to get it. Until now I couldn't figure out why there was always so much arguing going on in here. I mean, we're all 49ers fans (except a random few) but when I went to my first live football game it was the best experience of my life. I was literally surrounded by fellow fans and got to spend the entire time talking football. I always thought the forum was another version of that but it most definitely ain't. Some of y'all just literally come here to get your rocks off on arguing. I should have seen it a ways back, but all this "take the L" or "throw in the towel" or whatever else. I do know there's a ton of fans here that do come just to chat it up with fellow fans, but wow. Should I congratulate you on the W? I mean, exactly how big of a deal is it when you guys are able to win an argument? With other 49ers fans?

yessir.. I just refereed the fight tho it was between NY and Woo and you can send Woo his trophy PM him for deets on where that goes
this is very serious debate here folks. when you see this it's the universal sign of serious argument

I'm not seeing anything here with KS saying they are splitting, sharing, whatever you wanna call it.

The guy who wrote the article inferred that. But Kyle in his quotes made it clear that Trey will have the chance to prove himself.

Trey will get the majority of the reps especially with the 1st team. If they Trey is doing bad and Darnold is looking good with the 2nd team, then we might see sharing of reps then and possibly him even starting if Purdy isn't ready.

What I'm trying to say, ignore charliesheen, he's always spouted over the top non sense since he's been here.

It went from no way are we bringing in a guy to compete to well he's got a chance in a month

If Trey can't beat Darnold then it is what it is.

I would fight you on this 5GR and tell you to throw in the towel, but I don't want to trigger SLC.

You win this round I suppose

that's what I am thinking.. TL has 3 years here in this offense, comp is good, as they say iron sharpens iron

never thought I would be referring to Sam Darnold as sharpening anything, but that's what NFL is about, it's a lil unpredictable at times.

I was scanning twitter and kyle seemed very rational to me in the clips I saw and heard. It's obvious Brock blew them away so in a way Trey needs to hit that extra gear and just push himself. It's honestly a good situation. The idea is competition and we have that. If Trey ascends this is simply a good thing. Let these kids compete like hell it'll make them both better.

Darnold is low risk insurance to me. I don't see him beating Trey or Brock, but you never know and not a bad third stringer if you assume he gets this season to recalibrate his game. That's my guess at this time.

Some posters just pick a hill to die on in every damn thread of this forum. we are all guilty of it at times, but some folks certainly stick out from the crowd. It's nice to know you can just ignore people and converse with posters who are actually engaging in a positive way.

Lance was the shiny new toy you loved but you dropped it a few times and there's an old toy in the back of the stash that you start to love because it just works

No. He said he expect both guys to get some first string reps…he didn't say they would be splitting them.

That is, by definition, splitting reps.

Woo by TKO

Bahaha cool if we go out to dinner and you guys pay for 90% of the bill. I'll call that "splitting" it 😉

What if we drank and ate 90% of what was served and you ate 10%?

My guess from the fairly obvious context is NY is using "splitting" to mean "splitting in half."

Yeah like most people in the world…narratives though

Most people in the world don't think halving and splitting are synonymous.
Peopme refer to splitting time at a position all the time withiut meaning an even 50/50 split.

Kyle said he was going to split up the 1st team reps between Darnold and Lance.

What narrative am I pushing here?

Depends on the context. "Splitting the check" generally means it being split evenly. As does "splitting the pot" in poker, or "splitting the pot" in treasure hunting.

Splitting the check does not specifically mean splitting it evenly, split checks often are split by what someone orders.
Split Evenly is the term that describes even splits.

I didn't see the full interview but assuming the quote Lombardi posted earlier was spot on it can be read multiple ways(and people certainly have)

Couldve been read as Brock is injured so Trey has a chance to be QB1 but so does Darnold.

Or if you follow the wording careful and note the order then it can also read as because Brock is injured Trey has a chance to win the job back and because Brock is injured they also brought in Sam to show what he can do…but the Darnold talk was after reminding again of the injury to Brock which can be read as Sam was brought in to be QB2 while Brock is out.

Either way let's stop arguing about splits and just wait to see what happens in camp.

I think Trey steps up to the challenge and him playing loose without the expectations could be a good thing for him…49ers better hope it is too. Cuz it would suck if they actually pushed Darnold out there during camp for a real QB1 battle while Brock is out cuz I'm confident Darnold can practice better with his experience. Question is what happens when other teams can hit him?

But I should heed my own advice and wait to see what actually happens.
