The point of Lance was to get to that next level at QB. Not have to support and prop up the QB (and still have to pay a f**k ton of money in the process).

People are unwilling to even let that unfold or have a chance to grow.

as far as my comment above, we're talking about a backup QB. Not signing prime Rogers or something.

Yeah you're right we should have just paid Jimmy another $150M to watch him not throw TDs in the playoffs or sit on the sideline and smile.

you want that elite level QB or at least a chance at getting one, it more than often costs draft picks.

Wrong. We are discussing a slightly different point. Which is, given realistic assessments of everyone's capabilities, health, and development, who gives us the best chance to win games in september? It's not that we don't want trey to do great.
