I like Jimmy but we ain't bringing him back. And 20-30m? For a season? Bleep no.

Just my personal opinion, you are entitled to yours of course. Some of these guys who don't land a starter gig are solid and could be had in the 3-6m price range.

It would be great to bring him back. Because our QB room is a mess of injuries. Plus at least 1 guy who is not ready at the moment. We need some kind of QB in here and Purdy to get healthy.

I go back to KS at the presser..

Reporter: Any chance we bring JG back?

KS --->

plenty of other FAs out there and good names that could come in at backup QB wages; fill out the room

The only statement you can make about Trey is that he hasn't done anything due to circumstances. However the very limited bit we saw was not even close to what we saw from Purdy. That's not to say that the future won't change that but....

I don't see how anyone can discredit or minimize how good Purdy was based on the bolded above. This offense looked lethal with him in it and that was coming off of Jimmy G who--despite what you say about him--was having a very very solid season before getting injured.

Between how Purdy elevated the offense and based on the trust and play-calling that Shanahan had while he was at the helm...barring his injury/rehab...I just don't see any situation where Purdy isn't the guy.

You will see it come week 1 when Trey Lance is under center. So be sure to wipe your eyeglasses once our offense takes the field. He will be the one with the number 5 on his jersey

And yet he he always burns us when it matters most, either in QB play or injury. Yes stop touching the stove and stop blowing money on a horse that's not gonna finish the race. A 7th rd rookie QB out played him and cost $500k. We ain't dropping $30M.

WWhy denigrate Brock to make your point? Uncalled for. Nobody finishes the race with the lightest right side of an offensive line in the league. Have you noticed?

lol you're kidding right?

Brock wasn't a 7th round rookie now? How scandalous to call him that!? Did he not outplay Jimmy? Wow what a shot against Brock to say he played better.

You and ny85 making it sound like some scrub outplayed jimmy. LOL. Purdy the top rated qb in the nfl for the 8 games he plaed. Only human being to unlock touchdowns from shanny's field goal-o-rama offense, which in my opinion is 10x as impressive as his qbr rating. That needs a phd thesis to understand.

and yeah, you guys putting him down to pump trey is NOT right. Give him his due. And jimmy's as well.

You are delusional.

Nothing NY said in his post downplayed what Purdy did. He was a 7th round rookie and he outplayed Jimmy. The point wasn't look at how bad Jimmy is, it was look at the fact that we have someone making way less than him and playing much better than him therefor we do not need to pay Jimmy crazy open market money to retain him.

You're still doing it! What are you doing? I don't get it. PM me or something. I am totally mind boggled on this. It's like Joe throws the catch and you say some scrub qb drafted in the third round who took 18 months to see the field. LOL I'm not calling Brock Joe, but he did some damn good things on the field and should be respected for that.

No I'm explaining the facts of the situation. Sorry that's hard for you to wrap your head around it.

I posted earlier in the thread I suspect he will be starting week 1. This was maybe 2-3 weeks ago I posted. But I think is all I will go. Big offseason for TL how he looks in July / Aug will be the deciding factor. 3rd offseason with us. Needs to lose the hesitancy and just let it rip; play ball.

The only major injury was the broken ankle. I don't think the others required surgery. The hand injury happened when he hit the helmet of a pass rusher. This happens a lot in the NFL and it just comes down to luck on how much you get injured. If you're going to tag Trey as injury prone then throw Purdy into that category too. 7 games and a major injury.
My point is, everybody in skill position is injury prone when the right side of the oline weighs 295 in a wet raincoat.

I understand that but we do though since brocks swelling may not go down until april
I could see someone like Marcus Mariota as a backup here. ATL will likely cut him. Maybe he wants to live closer to home with a new born? He ran a similar offense in ATL.

I see a lot of vet backups looking at SF favorably. First off well the QB situation overall and secondly it's kyle. He's gonna put whomever is QB in a great situation to have success.

JG ain't the only FA QB in the world.. lot of good names out there.. it will be a matter of who is best scheme fit at best price tag

It's was showing that we don't need to blow a bunch of cash on a QB that isn't gonna be the long-term dude. Or a guy that constantly gets hurt

The best scheme fit is Jimmy.

The best price tag? We shall see.

Why can't mariota land a real gig? He looked great against us. what's going on with him?
