Criticism of a guy that's been in the league for 7 years and played in SF for 4 seasons, is vastly different than criticism of a kid with 100 passing attempts in the NFL. People s**t on him before he even stepped on the field. There's no reason to be like that imo.

you can not like a draft pick, that's fine. It's clear I wasn't a Mac fan, BUT I did say if SF drafted him I would have given him every opportunity to be that guy. I would have rooted for him to be good all the same….labeling Lance something off not much, just because your feelings were hurt about how Jimmy was handled by some fans/coaches is petty and childish imo.

Criticism is criticism no one should be immune from it people go to ridiculous extremes on both sides of every argument or debate whatever you want to call but labeling all criticism is equally as ridiculous but with that said as much as I disliked the pick I tuned into the Bears game and rooted from whole tem including Trey and when he went down week 2 I wasn't celebrating I was pissed that we were gonna be set back by injury to the QB once again.

Now I guess I'll take your word for it but I have a very hard time believing you would have rooted for McCorkle.

Remaining skeptical isn't the same thing as saying they know he can't do it.

I don't blame anyone for not believing in or being skeptical of Trey. I've never said once that I know for sure that he will be great (or good), or that I know he would have made the playoffs with this team, or that he would have won the Super Bowl.

Meanwhile, everyone and their mama makes negative predictions about Lance and everyone acts like it's a fact.

His rookie season, the common narrative was that if we started Trey, it would result in a wasted season.

His second season, he gets injured in week 2, and countless posters were extremely happy that it happened so Jimmy could "save our season", assuming Trey would have missed the playoffs had he remained the starter.

Now this year, if we start Trey, we will have wasted another SB run.

All of this is with the context that we haven't won a SB since I was in diapers.

Lol ppl applauding this.

It's a poor post imo and a reason there is such a divide in these threads. I can say I value JG as he has a proven record of leading us to wins in SF. I can also say I get ppl wanting to move on as I wanted to move on from Alex back in the day to CK. I would never say that ppl who feel different from me are 'extremely happy' about injury. I feel ppl with dif opinions are good ppl who just happen to have dif opinions about the club. Not malicious ppl cheering injury. That's a pretty dim view of fellow posters and uncalled for.

That's a long sentence.

With the emergence of Purdy as QB1 when he is healthy, we literally have nothing to lose to give Trey a chance and see what he is made of while we await Brock's return. If Trey is the truth, then we got a QB battle between 2 potential franchises QBs. If he fails, all good Purdy shall return.
One defensive point of Trey Lance is this team, not just him, wasn't the same early as they were late. The offensive line was a huge concern and played much better as the season went on. Deebo wasn't in shape. RB1 got hurt early. CMC wasn't here yet. While he didn't inspire much confidence, I expect his supporting cast to be much better week 1 next year vs week one this year. If he improves as well the results could be much different. While brock Purdy is everything Trey Lance is not. Trey Lance is also everything Brock Purdy is not.

That was the hope before his injury now everyone is worried he's not going to be ready and Lance can't pick up the slack. I really hope Purdy is okay long term. He looked special this season.

I really think it comes down to people not wanting to be wrong. Some here just argue for the sake of arguing, but HAVE to be right at all costs. As littered as this forum is with those receipts, some people could end up looking really stupid.

Personally, if I'm wrong I'd rather it be for supporting a player on this team instead of trashing him.

You just admitted that someone was happy Jimmy got hurt (which I saw as well), but it's unfathomable to believe someone was happy Trey got hurt?

So basically your claim goes from 'countless people' were happy about injury to maybe someone was cuz it's not unfathomable.. pretty weak.

No one is cheering injury dude. If you see it call it out.. it's not common and pretty sick imo.

I said it before anyone was drafted (multiple times). I would support, root for, and let any of those QBs have full opportunities to be that guy. I also said I had no problem criticizing Lance the same I have of Jimmy AFTER given the same amount of time to play/develop. Pretending to have some conclusion on what Lance is after 100 passing attempts is being foolish.

I don't care what anyone says… blatant dislike or extreme negative criticism of a then 20 year old vs a guy that been in the league for 7 years and played multiple seasons here is vastly different…Objectively you can't lump those into the same box. Unless there's a bias going on, which there clearly is by a lot of people.

NY, it's going to be a looooong offseason for you if you hang onto all the "hate" that is being directed at Lance. Unless you like it, then go for it. The only way for Lance to change people's mind is to play well, and the soonest that can happen is September.

This. People are going to remain skeptical of him until he proves that they shouldn't be.

People just got to let it play out. Waste of time constantly arguing about this.

I've never seen NY burn out. I got the over on him making it to week 1 putting Lance haters in their place

I have said many times that whenever I think a player sucks and is useless, I hope that I am dead wrong about him. Always.

Nobody openly celebrated when Trey was injured, but there were several posts from people saying things like "now we may have a chance to win" and "the season may have just been saved". Maybe you missed them, but I definitely didn't.
We are going to find out real quick what Trey has, apparently. This is good news. If he can't duplicate what Purdy did with this now his second off season and third year in the system. Cya.

Problem is this was an expensive experiment, draft pick wise. Fingers crossed but will give Trey my support and the benefit of the doubt.

There were PLENTY of those types of posts.
