Sure, but quite a number of posters in this thread want to start Trey next season over the great Brock Purdy because Trey need reps.

So true

And if it doesn't work out they can always blame the team for failing him lol

This.

And a Monsoon plus a truck load of other excuses

Okay so the weather clearly affected him in that game. It affected Fields too, but Fields made a couple more plays because he's a better athlete (and didn't have to deal with as heavy of rain when the game was on the line—that's an OBSERVABLE FACT not an "excuse."). No one here, not me, not you, no one, knows what Trey would have become this year if he didn't hurt.

All we KNOW is what Brock is doing right now, and if it continues and we take that trophy we have our Franchise QB, and Trey will be the backup until his contract is tradeable.

The "monsoon" was only in the last half of the last quarter. It is nothing more than an excuse. What we do know is that when Trey came out in both his first year in two full games and some other appearances in a few plays and as the first starter in two games this year he did not set the world on fire. On the other hand Purdy smashed it out of the ball park with sugar on top of it. That is the difference between NFL ready and hype.

And the 49ers were leading until around then, and would have had a two score lead if not for the fumble. We all knew he'd be raw. But had he started the whole year he may have been a really good one by now.

It doesn't matter at this point, because he's out for the year and Purdy has shocked the world.

The Niners just beat the Seahawks and yet the usual suspects are making fun of a player that had his ankle destroyed.
If you want to say that Purdy should be the starter next year, no problem.
There´s no need to say dumb things over and over again.
If you can say that Lance is a bust based on what we saw so far, I´m really impressed because I don´t know what he is. That´s the problem.
And you never know how a player will react. Maybe Purdy will push Lance to be better.

As for the people saying that in a fair competition Purdy would have been the starter this season, stop please.
All the beat writers said that Purdy was worse than Lance and even Sudfeld in training camp.
Why do you think Kyle wanted Jimmy back as a back-up?
Nobody could have thought that Purdy would improve so much during the season.
He was good in pre-season. I liked what he did against the Packers. But I would never have thought for one second that this kid would be so good as a rookie. He was the best QB of the two games yesterday. And we´re talking about Geno, Herbert and Lawrence.

Purdy was actually very impressive but he never had much opportunity to play with the 1st team. Beat writers had to write base on the fact that Trey was the unquestioned starter.

Also, bring back Jimmy G might have more to do with not trusting Trey then anything else. We don't exactly know for sure because Kyle will never tell us his actual thought process on that.

Or more like they saw the reps and weren't impressed. HOWEVER, some of them WERE impressed. We had some beat writers saying he was trash and some saying he was the best QB.

Also, I think bringing back Jimmy had more with the simple fact that he was available, and it was a golden opportunity. You don't pass on a QB of his caliber when he comes that cheaply. And several teams are run by fools, which is why he ended up being here. The Jets are in the playoffs and maybe would have had a real chance at the division had they traded for him.

No doubt Purdy was the worse QB in the beginning of the season, he was a 7th Rd. Rookie that had a very good chance of not making the team. We are so blessed he developed to the QB our team is looking for!

This dude calls a timeout without Coach Kyle's permission?!
This is Brock Purdys team now!!!

So take away all his forced passing attempts from the 4th QR when it was a f**king monsoon…stop pretending it didn't exist, we all watched the damn game. You got no problem talking about comp % from that game and we all the weather affected it, without question. The weather overall in that game wasn't close to comparable to yesterday.

let's cut the stupid s**t. You don't like lance and never have. He threatened your boy Jimmy and who knows what else…how anyone can take anything you say seriously regarding Lance is beyond me. It's f**king annoying man.

I mean why are you going out of your way to s**t on a player that's not even playing right now?

During OTAs and TC there was plenty of bad coming from the reporters with Brock, a lot of INTs from what I remember. I mean if we're being objective Brock should have a handful of INTs, there was some pretty questionable passes….IF that was Lance, we damn well know the usual suspects in here would be calling him out and tossing clips of it.

Brock has shown how playing football gets you ready for football. Kid has blown away his expectations and should absolutely have a chance (probably a real good one) of being the starter next yr. That in no way means Lance's career here is done or he won't become the better long-term starter. I think we got a setup here to make a lot of QBs look damn good and develop. That's a good thing.

I feel bad for Trey cause he seems to be a good kid, but we can't afford to wait for him to finally develop.

It's Brock's team now.
