He hasn't done it this year he didn't get a single TD

SD is pretty fair from what I have seen if TL starts winning and producing on the regular I imagine he would come around quick same with a lot of folks

Jimmy G stepped in and WON the game. You have to FINISH for it to count as a win. Trey Lance won 1 game in his career. Houston Texans. That's it. 1 game. He will be a 3rd year player next year. Let that sink in.

I've watched every game. And his performance was decent, not terrible but not great. Similar to Jimmy.

He's 2-2 as a starter. Usually you counts "Starts", so he doesn't get the loss vs. SEA in 2021 but he gets the win vs. SEA in 2022. But his injury history is very concerning at this point. My confidence in his ability to prove this trade successful is now much smaller than it was before this injury. With Lance, I think we'd be around what we're at now (4-4). I also assume he'd improve over the season, but that's on hold until next year.

He must show it next season or there will be heads that roll... unless they win the SB this year, and then Lance becomes an afterthought.

I would have rather got Justin Fields. But this is the guy we got. So we will see how it works out.

Trey Lance is green and unknown...he hasn't played much in college and the NFL. The only thing we have on him are one season highlight tapes of him barreling through high school looking defenders and throwing deep to wide open receivers. We won't know anything until he is healthy, gets back on the field and plays in NFL regular season games which is September 2023, about 10 months from now. By that time, 49ers may either go with him, stick with Jimmy, or find another qb in free agency or the draft. Too early to speculate anything.

Ok. That wasn't that hard. I agree. He needs to do those things. Some can't be accomplished in one season, but at a minimum, Lance should get to playoffs and be formidable next season. And if not, I'm open to looking elsewhere, depending on how he looks.

Josh Allen and Justin Herbert have 0 conference championships. But they're obviously better than Jimmy. So maybe that's not the best metric.

If he gets to the playoffs and goes deep consistently we should be fine. Plus win a lot in the regular season. Plus stay healthy. So far I'm not seeing those things. Nobody knows what they future could bring.

I'm more skeptical that I was before the season. Add to that how much MIA and PHI were able to benefit from the trade also works against Lance. But he should have an excellent team and one viable shot at cementing himself as QB1 after 2023.

And we will need to bring in someone else to compete.

- unless Jimmy wins the SB, then it's all irrelevant.
