Who should play!?

Ok same question, now imagine we are 4-2 and Jimmy has one of those " bad Jimmy" games and we fall to 4-3. I think this is where it really gets tricky.

Short answer is it depends. It depends what the NFC is looking like. It depends on Jimmy's play, team chemistry, team health, etc.

One too many concussions.

It is interesting that when he first made his evaluations prior to us trading up, he said Lance needed a lot of work due to being inexperienced and raw while at the same time saying Mac Jones is NFL ready even though he has had the same experience as Lance.

Then, when Lance gets drafted, all we hear about (not from Simms) is how football smart Lance is along with how polished his fundamentals are.

Simms was way off on him to the point where I think he did it on purpose and now he's just trying to support that narrative so it doesn't look like he was covering up for knowing who Kyle was going to select.
I think the more important question Shanny has to be able to answer is "Can we win with Trey right now?"

If the answer is yes then I think he should start imo.

Jimmy still plays, until we no longer are in the playoff hunt.

It just amazes me in general with Simms. I'm sure he's a great guy and yeah he was still more successful than most guys who ever picked up a football and played or tried to play QB.

But for a guy who was the son of a QB who relied more on being cerebral than anything- I mean Phil Simms wasn't a prototype as an athlete, rocket armed pocket passer or anything when he played, Chris Simms was a disappointment at Texas and a nothing in the NFL. Yeah I'm an Ohio State guy but hearing him talk about Fields, and every player has flaws, areas for improvement, etc. But Simms is a guy who couldn't even figure out/fix himself let alone any other QB prospect in this past draft or drafts to come.

The whole Lance thing is interesting and amazing to me. Even the top story on the main page when I came here now about ESPN predicting his rookie year stats. I don't know that I have ever seen the media as a whole so determined to get one particular QB off a roster or on the bench of that roster as they are with Jimmy G.
The homerisum in this thread is hilarious

If the roster, the key pieces stay pretty healthy (unfortunately maybe a fairly big if) they could probably "win" with CJ Beathard if he was still here. Maybe not Super Bowl caliber win, but still probably playoff contender win.

Maybe they can, but that's how you fracture a locker room. Outside of Jimmy getting injured or just playing awful, Trey should not start. It would be a huge mistake, no matter how great he looks in practice.

Matt Ryan, a veteran NFL QB, took a whole year to get a grasp on Kyle's system.

A 21 year old who hasn't played real football since he was 19 won't come in here and win many games without a scaled down, gimmicky offense. This team is good enough to win now and Jimmy will ball out like a man possessed.

So you don't believe in "best men on the field?" What if Trey makes it a competition, like coach said he can, and flat out no question beats Jimmy?

Not just can we win now, but can we win more.

Jimmy the guy who has had one above average season will ball out like a man possessed?

Plus regardless of what one thinks of Kyle's "genius", "ego", or qualities as a head coach or play caller, he's not so high on himself that he would just toss a guy out there day one to run a complicated offense who is still learning it. The people who say, "Well he did it with RG3." Well, he wasn't the head coach one. And basically they didn't have anyone else who was a conceivable option. I mean, it was RG3 and it was Kirk Cousins, two rookies. And I guess for a while it was Rex Grossman. That was pretty much it.

It's no secret that I'm not a Jimmy fan, but the team is. A lot of players on the team not only really like him, but think he is good. Sherman broke it down pretty well when he talked about Jimmy.

All these guys who resigned on 1 year deals back with us they are doing it for a SB chance. And no SB has ever been won with a rookie. Way less likely that we win with Trey than with Jimmy.

I mean if Jimmy does it's a win win for us. It's okay to root for both guys. I just want the best one on the field and if that's Trey this season so be it'll
