I believe we will see flashes of greatness from Trey this season but I don't think he will really start to take off until 2023. As long as our run game gets back on track, that is all that will be asked of Trey. To be a game manager. I still think he will pass for 4200 yards and close to 30 TD's this season though.

Why on Earth would we spend 3 ones on a game manager we could have kept all the ones and gotten Davis Mills if we wanted that. TL is a game changer.

He'll be a "game changer" as the season progresses, but since he still lacks experience ( no fault of his own ) expect him to have a few growing pains early on. This team Is destined for greatness this season, depending on the one calling the shots

My bad lol I see what you are saying. That game manager label tends to be a QB insult. Just hope we let him loose on the league. He won't develop much game to game if he's handing off 40+ times. Grip it and rip it.

True, this team needs Jake Brendel (or whomever plays center) to be solid to have a shot.

A lot of great QBs start their careers as game managers. All he would need to do is be a game manager at 22 and he would already be at least as good of a QB that we have had since Jeff Garcia (minus Kaepernick for like a year).

This is true I recall Brady was indeed a game manager in the early 2000s. Course.. today's game is easy as it has ever been for QBs.. we see great QBs lighting up the league early.. some of the best are young guns like Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, Allen, Mahomes, etc..

We've invested a ton in Trent, a first rounder in BA, a ton in Kittle, soon to be a ton in Deebo, that's a ton of pass game weapons.. where the backs are a couple third rounders and a sixth.. I definitely hope we are more of a passing team.. fits our personnel more.

Matt Ryan's MVP season ATL attempted the 26th most passes per game.

RGIII ROY Wash was 31st in pass attempts.

2019 & 2021 with JG we were 28thish both years.

If he is winning, he is running regardless of QB. So for anyone thinking we're all of a sudden going to sling because he got "his QB" you might be in for a rude awakening.

That's probably correct. As long as we can do both when it matters it's all good.

Trey didn't show up to TEU. Is it something to worry about? Do you think it was a personal matter that kept him from going or a straight up snub for whatever reason?

He had a personal matter come up.

He personally hates Kittle and didn't want to throw to him and his boys.

Weren't they going to sporting events together? Didn't he agree to go to TEU?

I was joking about the 2nd part. First part was real.

Arm fatigue.

I still not sure how you've come to those conclusions....he absolutely has shown touch in college (and NFL). He has shown anticipation in his passing. What he was asked to do in college as a freshmen is the opposite of being "raw" compared to a lot of college QBs and what they're asked to do...he's "raw" regarding just live reps, which was out of his control with COVID.

His running ability is just fine. He's not Lamar, but not one who watched him in college objectively would call him that. He's been put in a great situation and all I want is improvement. The great thing is we saw that last yr in a small sample size.

IMO we have a good one....he just needs to rep through the bad stuff, like any very young player

According to Jerry Rice, Trey still needs to work on his touch on the 20 yards or less routes.

Lance was much more comfortable checking the ball down than Fields was in college. He's also the best QB prospect i've seen in awhile in carrying out play fakes. And he surely has the most upside when it comes to sliding and escaping the pocket. Fields is a great downfield passer but he likes to run backwards to escape pressure unlike Lance who has shown the ability to slide up in the pocket,

There's a lot of nuance to his game that most don't understand because they look at box scores. I still stand by the fact that he was the correct choice. 49ers fans won't be disappointed in the next couple of seasons.

Agreed

Am I the only one concerned that every highlight I see of Trey his ball is wobbly as f**k? What on earth is with his release, such an ugly ball.

I am sure having a broken index finger on his throwing hand had nothing to do with it.

I feel like every video we're seeing is in slow motion where every throw looks to have some wobble. I'm not worried about any of it.

He was suffering from an injured finger - that's why he was having issues with his wobblers. He's fine, now.
