I'm in this camp too. It's not like any QB or Jimmy is going to put up Madden-like numbers in this system. In fact, most are expecting to run MORE with Trey.

While that puts a massive spotlight on the throws he does make, and their importance to W's and L's, the collective lift shouldn't be too hard to replicate from last year. Or even improve upon.

No doubt the rest of the team is playoff ready again even with a couple position groups dropping off while others increasing in a pretty weak NFC.

I still think 9-8 but I can understand why the mass majority of fans in the PYMWYMI thread have 10+ and anything less would be a disappointment.

Keep the standard high.

Lol

Yeah you're totally right Matt Ryan winning MVP, Matt Schwab leading the lead in yards and second in touchdowns all fake news. Kyle held Jimmy back! 😂
This move makes up for them being idiots and not drafting a QB during that solo man Thomas pick! Hopefully he can bring a chip! Please 🙏🏽 I just don't like hearing that Shanahan is a qb control freak.

Ohhhh, gotcha! LOL.

I'm talking this year and then not lowering expectations. What it evolves into after that could be something in that YOLO form or closer to the vest now that he's a HC and not an OC. Who knows.

I'm pretty sure we take trubisky if we went qb that year. A whole new can of whoop ass. Sink or swim I'm glad we went for it all with lance. I don't want another solid qb that won't get us over the hump. And I'm a jimmy fan saying this

I highly doubt that Dan Quinn was the driving influence in an explosive offense!

Kyle works with his personnel, we've seen that over the years. It's down to Trey to prove he can be trusted to throw 30+ attempts and keep us on track.

This stuff is great from a pure x's and o's/numbers game. I really do hope Trey learns to protect himself better though. But more than that, I really hope Shanahan does a better job protecting Trey. I like the idea of Trey's abilities in the run game being a threat more than I do it being an actual staple of the offense. I do understand that he is going to have to run to keep the threat alive. Perhaps have a sort of a pitch count for the season or per game.

One of things I love about Shanahan is the ability to add new wrinkles. I like the one idea that the guy in the video brought up with having a WR or RB out there waiting for a screen if the defender doesn't follow the motion. Another way I can see Shanahan protecting Trey is by turning those zone reads into play action/misdirection type plays. He could have Kittle fake a run block and sneak out to the side that Trey is running toward. Could have a reverse with Deebo or Danny Gray coming back the other way. Could be wrinkles I can't even imagine at this point. All I know is that at the very least this offense should be exciting to watch.

Trey definitely needs to work on his awareness. That play at the end of the video where the Texans DB runs him down and pops him should never happen. He should see that coming from a mile away. He rarely (if ever) slides, which shows he doesn't have a feel (yet) for when he needs to get down.

RG3 lacked that feel for the game, and it didn't end well.

That's not awareness related. That's speed of the game and strength of NFL defenders related and that will come to him with more reps.
Trey didn't show up to TEU. Is it something to worry about? Do you think it was a personal matter that kept him from going or a straight up snub for whatever reason?

Maybe just to build up rapport with the receivers instead?

Lance doesn't like throwing to TEs so why attend? (4 completions to a TE in 2 starts)
I'm half kidding.

He had a personal matter come up.

He personally hates Kittle and didn't want to throw to him and his boys.

Weren't they going to sporting events together? Didn't he agree to go to TEU?

If I remember correctly Kittle said he might show up if the schedules worked out.
