The issues wasn't the misses (or drops). The issue was the offense had only scored 3 points through 3Q IIRC??? Then the 4Q hit and the offense got in rhythm.
Think there was only two 3 and outs that whole game (one was the first series of the game).
The drops were a real thing too. Early and throughout. The passes were there.
WR's have to get a handle on the Trey heat missiles. Those rockets are going to have to be handled with Asbestos Gloves.![]()

No need to put that extra pressure on him.
So, it was okay for Jimmy to go through that exact same scenario last year but Lance shouldn't have to do it because he is young and impressionable. Got it.
Jimmy remaining on the team as a back up is an unlikely hypothetical scenario, the Jimmy fan club is now at the bargaining stage of the 5 stages of grief.
Depression comes next when he's released from the team, and finely acceptance when the Niners have success without him.
Well, typically for your sort, you're missing the point. Personally, I am of the opinion that, if the team believes Lance is their guy and is ready to go there isn't much upside to bringing Jimmy back this year. I was just pointing out the usual hypocrisy and double standard that have become the norm of certain posters on this particular topic.
Actually your point about hypocrisy was 'false equivalency' given the context of why Trey was backing up Jimmy. It was a planned transition scenario, while the scenario of keeping Jimmy would indicate a lack of confidence in Lance.
It's a pointless debate as it's based on the unlikely hypothetical of keeping Jimmy as a back up. A scenario that doesn't consider that Jimmy would not want to be a back up, but would rather want a chance to start elsewhere.

It really doesn't matter what Jimmy wants, the team holds his rights through this upcoming year. He's getting moved as soon as the team feels it is in their best interests to move him. They don't owe him that 20 plus million until the season starts, so why not hold onto him until they have exhausted the possibility of getting something in return for him? All it will take is a starter getting injured or one of these lesser scrubs who got jobs they aren't able to do showing why they aren't to get interest in Jimmy going again.

Granted this is a Lance thread, but just wondering what teams have the ability to take on his salary if their starter gets injured? Most likely the Niners will have to pay half to truly move him for a pick.

Not a cap guru, but if folks need to make cap space, they always seem to be able to work it out. Probably have to eat some of that salary, but that's how it goes, and we got a cheap QB for the next few years, so we are good. Can't wait to see how the offense looks with the improved threat of athleticism and deep passing threat.
