How would it benefit them to say anything publicly?

I think some of Kittles recent interviews should be taken as huge signs of encouragement. Given Kittles relationship with Jimmy he should be much more guarded when talking about Trey, especially with Jimmy still on the roster, instead we get.

I'm excited, the things Trey brings to the table, with his athleticism and rocket arm, it'll be more exciting and I'm excited about the opportunities it'll bring for me.

Literally used excited or exciting 3 times and ended with "it's going to be really fun"
Is TEU open to the public? I wonder if we'll get some videos of Trey throwing to the top TE's in the league. I need something to pump me up from this drag and depressing off season we've had in 49er land.

This is from a guy who has been to a ton of 49er functions with the team. Take from it what you will

I'll worry about Lance when the season is over next year. By then we'll have seen enough to make a reasonable evaluation. Even then, it may show that all he needs is another season to get acclimated and learn defensive recognition. We may not know until after the 2023 season. After all he hasn't played much since 2020.
That's the million-dollar question, isn't it?" Kittle said. "That's one reason I'm glad I'm not the head coach of the 49ers. That's all on Coach Shanahan. I'll give you both ways. Jimmy G, awesome in the huddle, great leader, directs guys. People go to attention when he's talking. He's got a quick release, he knows the offense. Like I said, been to two NFC Championship games, knows what he's doing. Trey Lance can run, extend plays, does all the play-action stuff incredible, could throw the ball 70 yards. I don't know. It's a toss-up for me."

So Jimmy is a leader and is a qb. Trey is an athletic guy who plays the qb position.

Got it.

Sure. Trey still needs to prove his leadership and gain the experience of being the QB of 2 NFCCG's. That is not a knock on Trey. Everyone and their mother knows that Trey needs the experience.

And yet Lance is the one asking for the rookies numbers calling them & going to Kittle's camp, and as Maiocco says is taking on the leadership role….Jose for a guy that says he's all for Lance you sure are passive aggressive about the whole thing.

I mean seems like common sense. He's gotta play to become the leader. Part of that is Jimmy having to leave as well imo.

seems like some folks are real passive aggressive with Lance. They wanted him to ride the bench last yr then are tossing out things like why's he's not a leader? Or why is he not this or that which actually requires actually playing football. Can't have it both ways.

Agreed 100%

I want him starting this year. I want him getting the snaps. I want him to to turn into that qb we need. It's too early to say if he can be that guy. We know what he has physically. But how is he in the huddle, is he that leader? Is he vocal? Does he command attention? This stuff doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

Most leadership qualities are learned. You're comparing a 8-yr vet to a (technically) 2-year player who's essentially a rookie.

Well it's been 2 weeks when the media guy bashed trey and the coach or GM hasn't respond yet. You'd think if they had confidence that he can be the man, they would have said something by now. It's looking like Jimmy will be our starter this year.

Why the hell would a team give an official statement to some BS report made on Twitter?

Honestly I feel like some of you guys either chose to be ignorant or simply don't follow this team enough.

Kyle and John have talked up Trey any chance they get(when they have to give a take) they have never made statements during the offseason without cause.

They have also said that if BS stories about them are out there they will not stop them if they don't hurt them in any way. These rumors do nothing but light more fire under Trey and potentially improve trade value for Jimmy(although I doubt other teams are stupid enough to fall for it)

So until they have to do a media event and someone asks them about it they're not going to say a thing.

No doubt In mind that we should see a better performance overall from the QB position this season ( I'd be surprised otherwise ). The question Is, will the end result be better?. As Limited as Jimmy Is, we we're still able to reach the super bowl and an NFCCG when he was healthy?. Regardless of his experience/lack of playing time. I think fans will have high expectations this year... Not just from Lance, but from Kyle and the team In general..
