Difficulty of the throw?

almost 20 yard out route with a DL jumping into your throwing lane to the far hash? Yeah that's not an easy throw.

Would you guys prefer to have Mr. Generational talent instead of Lance?

He's got the talent and skill set you want at the QB position for sure. IMO I thought playing at Clemson didn't help in regards of developing him. Ton of RPO playing out of gun stuff. Not a ton of full field reads. Just spread offense concepts and little in regards to reading coverages and stuff. Like a lot of college QBs deal with.

I thought since Meyer ran that same type of spread that he would have done better...speed of the game and lack of talent around him didn't help. I always thought he was never that great when pressured either and didn't really improve a ton from his freshman yr.

I wouldn't be upset having Lawrence, I think he would have been a little better here....that said people poo poo on Lance's rep count at NDSU, but they were quality reps where he had full felid reads, had too call protections, playing under center etc.

Michael Huff would have that route locked down.

Lawrence is very talented, but I think he was let down by the coaching in Jacksonville last year. It's easy to blame the lack of talent around him, but he made a lot of mistakes and threw a lot of ugly interceptions that had nothing to do with his supporting cast (players that is). I think with better coaching he'll be fine though.

Just comparing Lance vs Texans and Lawrence vs Texans only 1 QB looked decent. It wasnt the guy that took the L both times.
Interesting how opinions shift a little when its Lawrence that looks like dog water.

Lawrence has pretty long hair.

I didn't watch Lawrence vs HOU, but I have to be fair and say Lawrence's supporting cast (players and coaches) pale in comparison to Lance's.

So when its a Lawrence loss its a team issue, but when its Lance its a QB issue? Interesting.

Absolutely. That is why so many of us have faith Trey will be successful in the league. Really couldn't ask for a better situation. The fact that he's as smart and hard working as he is makes it almost perfect.

I also don't think he massively improved from his freshmen yr to his last yr at Clemson. Overall Clemson's scheme didn't help him get ready for the NFL (like a lot of college offenses). He had his own accuracy issues that everyone just seemed to bypass during the draft process. He lead the league in screen yards. He's got all the talent in the world but like most QBs it does take a little time to adjust.

I don't know if this was posted here before, but here is an interview on KNBR with one of the guys from 3DQB that has been working with Trey. They don't go into specifics on what things he's working on, but they do go into the process and there are some interesting tidbits.

Difficulty of the throw?

He's a 21 year old rookie with limited passing reps...hell yeah. It's an anticipation throw where the ball is out before the WR breaks to the sideline 20 yards down field over the defensive lineman. It may not be the most difficult throw in the world but laughing at the throw like it's a shovel pass to a wide open RB isn't it.

That would explain why Jimmy never hesitates to attempt throws on the outside like that, and why never ever do defenders contest those throws he's tried to make over there, and why he's never had any interceptions there, like the one that definitely didn't happen which brought the Cowboys back, or the one against the Lions a few years ago which definitely didn't happen and definitely was not overturned by a penalty, or all the near misses in the flat that definitely never happened.
Trey has been treated so unfairly by the media and he has done nothing to warrant such hatred from them. To make it worse it's not even about his lack of experience anymore, These Media type's are taking shots at his work ethic and IQ with no actual evidence of any kind to support it. Meanwhile you don't see Lawrence, Fields, and Z Wilson get any of this and they were all horrible.
