Also, I am not saying I would rather have Mac Jones over Trey Lance. I am just pointing out some of the hypocrisy.

Think about it. Jones put up similar numbers as Jimmy Garoppolo who is an 8 year vet who was throwing the ball to Deebo and Kittle.

He was put in a much much better position to outperform the others outside of Lance who just didn't play. I don't expect him to ever look like Brady regardless of who he's throwing the ball too. I simple don't think he's anything special. He's never gonna throw a team on his back and out play an elite QB.

I have no hypocrisy. I don't think he's a top end talent and he didn't show me anything to change my opinion on it.

jones had almost 100 more passing attempts compared to Jimmy and yet had similar numbers to an avg QB. Cool

Okay. So what is your expectation for a rookie QB? What should a top 15 rookie QB stat line look like?
Check this article out.

Mac Jones

67.6% comp 3,801 yards 22 TD's 13 INT's 92.5 passer rating. Compare Mac's stats to the likes of Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck, Andy Dalton, Cam Newton and Big Ben.

I have no idea. Like I said I watched a ton of their games and what he did this yr is what I expected from him. I also saw the same limitations as to why I don't think he will ever be a special QB. I don't want that, we have that already.

Yes Andy Dalton is my comp for him. Avg talent with limitations

Check out my last post and how his rookie season compares to SI's top rookie QB seasons. He very well could have already reached his ceiling but there is nothing at this point to suggest he has. I will say it again. I am very happy we drafted Trey. I believe Trey has a much higher ceiling. It doesn't take away from the fact that Mac had a really good rookie season when compared to SI's top list.

Like I said his limitations showed throughout the season and down the stretch. He's Andy Dalton 2.0 which is fine….but not what I want this team to invest in. He's not Luck/manning/Newton from a skill set or size either.

at this pt I don't really care about Jones so whatever there.

edit: that article is from 2016 and I don't see his name anywhere there

Dude, we didn't invest in him. You stated that he did nothing special. I point out that his performance was comparable to many of the top rookie QB seasons of NFL history. You lost the argument and you refuse to accept it. I like you NY. You are a great poster on this forum. However, your biggest flaw is admitting when you are wrong and just move on.

You provided an article from 2016… Hey man Baker mayfield put up the same stats his rookie yr.

I'm not looking at just stats to make my opinion on someone. Where a rookie plays will determine a lot as well.

oh I got no problem admitting on wrong, done it plenty in here.
Back to Lance I don't care if this is at practice without pads…this is an elite throw

Not too shabby for a "noodle armed" rookie QB. Anyone arguing that Mac didn't have a very good rookie year shouldn't be taken serious lol

1-4 his last 5 games with 7 INTS he got worse and played a bunch of butt teams in the middle of the season. I actually watched his games not a couple highlights.

Pfft, those are nice highlights, but he's no Josh Allen:
