If you think Lance is a bust at this point, you just WANT him to be a bust. I'll continue to go with Trent Williams' take on Trey Lance and hope he's right.

No, I was one of the few who actually wanted him before it came out we were trading up to get him. I was just joking around and the "Treystans" are getting butthurt. I actually like our current quarterbacks, I wish we could afford to keep Jimmy as a backup, but he's too expensive. I don't ever root for players on the team to lose or do poorly, but then again, I am a niners fan, and not a fan of any single player over the team, which is how it should be. Fantasy football has ruined some fans way of thinking.

Sorry for your loss.

This will happen to almost all of us, so we all better get used to mom jokes no longer being funny to us.

Lost mine last year. Mothers Day was hard.

The only reservation is that if the two QBs drafted ahead of Lance were available what would the 49ers have done. My guess is the Niners would've taken either one ahead of Lance. I'm a Niners fan and am rooting for him, but fans of this team have a very high standard and won't tolerate poor QB play.

It is not make or break for trey

Honestly for me it was like watching a different player. Trey was much more decisive at that point. His release seemed to be a bit snappier and he also seemed to get a better handle on his velocity as he showed better touch and stopped with all the airmailing. The rest of the game obviously wasn't perfect but Trey made some really good throws and got more comfortable as the game went on. That's something you couldn't say about the Cardinal game.

After that Texans game I screamed to everyone I knew that we needed let Trey finish the season. Not saying the outcome would have been any different but Jimmy's injuries headed into that stretch run put a ceiling on this team and left little room for error. Nonetheless we still had an amazing yet disappointing run that was powered by near legendary performances from Deebo, the D, and the special teams.

Just play the kid. After thirty-some years of fanatically following the NFL and this team I've come to realize that QB's, and athletes in general, either got it or they don't. It's really that simple. Sitting him for one year or five won't change that.

Everything related to the Cardinals game I blame on Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan was not prepared at all which is why he had 19 Scripted Run Pl. for Trey. Which is why he also got injured. Kyle how to piss poor performance that game

It made it look like they didn't know what they were talking about. If Trey fails they will feel validated, That they were right. It's also why they are still on this rediculous take that Kyle wanted Mac and changed his mind, Because they can say they were right on who the Niners were intending to draft.

Same can be said for a group of posters on this board.

Nope this is typical 49er QB drama. It's only going to get worse from here.

Yep. He's not in a make or break situation till about his third year.

York said when we drafted him he's ok if he has to sit 2 years. Now I don't think that will be the case, but the kid is still very young. Not many 22 year olds are out there thriving in the NFL in the most important position.

I thought it was something close to 8 designed runs. I don't like the idea of running Trey even that many times though. Short yardage/goal line but that is it. I don't mind him scrambling to avoid sacks and pick up yards if nothing is open though.

It's a promise...

Not from me though

I mean... we just spent what, a week on some anonymous nobody ass tweets? As I said this is typical 49ers QB drama.

In all seriousness, Trey just needs to perform on the field and win. Everything else is just noise.

Aren't these needs the same of the other 31 teams' starting QBs as well? Don't see anything specific to us. Everyone needs to perform well and win.
Now chris simms turn...

I went back and watched the Houston game. I have been too critical. He had some really good passes in that game. It was his second start without the benefit of off-season with the first team, and most importantly, did not have the benefit of playing multiple games and getting into a groove. The running is still something I'm not sold on.

Well if we want him to thrive @ 23, playing while he's 22 @ the NFL's most important position would be a great start.
